The subsection of BYers that swear Braden Smith is overrated need to repent

Absolutely manhandled them on the boards, 52-28. Why couldn't STJ do that? They got outrebounded by Bama. Basically challenged the Bama model by taking away the layup and making them shoot the three, and they shot a lot of those, 44 of 66 shots, which is insane. Great gameplan by Painter, not sure why Pitino didn't think of it. Clearly KDR makes a difference.

TKR also makes a difference

As it has been said, "what goes around, comes around", and Ain't Karma a B***h.
Ever since BC left Big East, and worked behind the scenes to keep UCONN out of ACC, many of us have hoped for the day when the Eagles 🦅 would crash and burn. Boys and girls, your day has arrived. BC's football program is in ruins. ....YES, UCONN took them out, and their standing in ACC football is a mess. The ACC football program, itself is looking more Iike the AAC, with the chances that only 1 team may make tournament. Beating a dead horse, here, I posted long ago, that the defectors from the old Big East, i.e. BC, Cuse, Pitt, VATech, and Miami would regret their leaving. Only Miami is succeeding in ACC, with the others as also-rans. Yup, revenge is sweet, and a dish served cold.

I don’t think it is completely fair to say BC has no fan base. Part of their problem is related to their success in changing focus from a local “suitcase” school to a national one. Their rather modest alumni base is no longer found 20 minutes from Boston. Back in the Flutie days, and honestly they were a pretty popular before and well after Flutie left. It fluctuated by success but during Ryan’s years they were a pretty big deal for example. Historically BC had its own “subway alumni” of sorts associated with every Catholic parish in Greater Boston and every one of them had a group of BC alums in the pews. Plus remember on the basketball side they were very good. Over the years they had Bob Cousy, Chuck Daly, Dr Tom Davis, Gary Williams, Jim O’Brien…not exactly a list of horrible coaches.

Now they have bad teams a small local alumni base (last time I looked there were more UConn grads in Greater Boston than BC grads). And there really isn’t the same connection that UConn has with its fans being the state university. If they had good exciting teams they might capture the local imagination again. But they haven’t done that so they won’t. And I think it is probably tougher to do it the longer you go without winning and without a local fan base.
BC leaving Big East was a fatal mistake. You all forget that Boston is a multiple team city. BC was never going to be the big deal in the Hub. They (BC) were beneath, Celtics, Pat's, Bruins, Sox. The basketball side WAS good. Yeah, back when they were in Big East. Even back in the days of New England basketball, 50's to 70's, they were good, but that's in the days of short pants, Converse shoes, and no shot clock.

When you think about the schools that left the Big East, which ones did it actually benefit?

BC
Syracuse
Pitt
Notre Dame
Miami
Virginia Tech

The football teams are the same or worse and the basketball teams are all definitely worse (I think).
Miami. ND is the Unicorn 🦄. ND has its own football contract, so they really are an anomaly. Basketball is nothing like years gone by. The women's team is more well known than the men's .

Purdue is good but Bamas Gs other than Halloway didn’t play very well.

I think Bama is the best team in the SEC. Altho UK still missing Quaintance and working Jaland Loweinto the rotation

I hate Disney/ESPN. This would be awesome to be watching right now.
I have YTTV and can understand the feeling. Try regular YT next time. Go to sports, then live. I was surprised (and very excited) when I found the game (not a playback, the actual game, live).

Bama has talented guards/wings…they play no bigs basically other than Bowen (who is a string bean) and Sherrel, they’ve got a 7’ transfer who doesn’t get much run. Don’t see them going far with virtually no size

I know the NBA is phasing out small guards but I would love to see him get a shot, he can at least be a 2-way contract guy and see if he sticks

Cronin got Donovan Dent but still running a crud offense
I have always liked Mick Cronin and I think he is a very good coach, but yeah, his offense leaves a lot to be desired for sure.

Stud freshmen Koa Peat and Brayden Burries for Arizona not looking so hot this game. Freshmen being freshmen, I guess.

Notes for Hurley and staff for the Arizona game: PG Jayden Bradley frequently turns down the pick in PnR action, Demary or Smith can't overplay the pick side.

The wins we're going to rack up in the next few weeks are going to be so juicy for all the metrics
