Notre Dame Postgame Thread

In addition to the idea that this is the hardest game to win (almost to the FF), another thought is by this point, the remaining eight teams are usually all pretty strong. So a team wins the sweet 16 game, and only has 48 hrs to rest, rehab, and game plan for another team. Sometimes you get an "easy" scout, and sometimes you get a team like ND, with absolutely nothing to lose. Geno's reaction after the UNC game was dead on - he wasn't looking forward to HH and the ND on a mission.

Now, with the E8 game done, the team has a bit more breathing room to prep for their FF opponent. The assistants are probably already scouting SC and TCU, and then will put finishing touches on the game plan after tomorrow night. There's also an upside to only having four teams in Phoenix, that I referenced somewhere else.
UConn had less than 48 hours between the S16 and the E8. @Centerstream it's Jana, not Yanna.

UConn cannot keep playing down to teams with less talent. ND tried hard without much quality on the court, though the annoying HH is really amazing. No way to describe her shot as "pretty" but "pretty effective" will do. We need to grow in the next few games (2?); we haven't not looked our old selves vs NC and ND. Please focus. We can't just tee it up and expect a win. What you smell is #13.
Message to Latin America: send more players like Blanca; she's going to be a big star.
I absolutely disagree with your assessment. ND just beat Vandy among others, the #6 team in the nation. UConn can’t just show up and beat everyone by 30. The expectations of some Husky fans are absurd.

I posted this in the Kibitzer BA of the game thread but it was my first thought for the Postgame thread...
"BA play to end an Elite Eight game": Yanna makes an ill advised pass that results in a turnover to Hildago. Hildago dribbles into the front court in a fashion like she is going to let the clock run out for the last 5 seconds...but no...she drives to the basket for an easy layup...but no...Yanna blocks it and Joe Vaszily forgot that he was supposed to call the imaginary foul!!!!!!!!

It had to make Yanna so happy for the recovery.

You quoted the wrong post, I think because I have no idea what you mean.
This is your post on Jana.

Like others have said UConn needs KK and Ash to contribute on scoring. But I’m glad that they are still doing other things to help.
KK I understand because she has always been able to drive, but only started shooting longer balls this year. But Shade has surprised me. She’s capable of hitting all the shots she’s taken in the past few games, and her shot just looks off.

If they play this poorly offensively and still manage to win two more games, it’ll be all because of their defense. IMO.
I think you put this weekend down to new baskets, new balls, very limited practice in a non-basketball arena with likely bad backgrounds for shooters. It is like when we went to play Syracuse in their empty 33,000 seat Carrier Dome every year - always seemed to be a tough shooting game,

Hopefully future super regionals will actually be basketball facilities - will not solve the other issues, but will help.

The games playing tomorrow at least it is only 2 teams trying to get court time tonight and tomorrow and that game is scheduled for evening tip-off so a normal game-day schedule for them.

And don't knock the defenses we faced. UNC had most of a week to prepare and ND already knew our game.

If SC wins tmow, 99.5% chance UConn-SC is the late game.

If it’s UConn -TCU then UCLA - Texas could be the late game. Any other combo would probably put UConn game late.

Actually, a starter is someone that is in the game on the first tip off.
No schießen! Note the italics, the bold emphasis, and lastly the quotes. 30 minutes is starter minutes. A person unfamiliar with UCONN would select which players from the list below as the starters. To this person Blanca is a "STARTER".

STARTERS
Sarah - 39 min.
Azzi - 38 min.
KK - 31 nim.
Ash - 22 min.
Serah - 9 min.
Blanca - 30 min.
K9 - 11 min.
Z - 11 min.

I would posit that Blanca's minutes today is a result of needing it, as others may not have gotten as many minutes as in prior games.

For the Huskies to claim the next 2 games Azzi needs to step it up. Today she played flat footed and very tentative. The girl can throw a switch and have a monster game next time up. I pray she does.
She is the only first team AA who is struggling to score. She is a senior and should be setting an example for the other players and take over like she did in the FF last season.
