Should be no Surprise: Sarah is the Fort Worth Regional 1 MOP.
Blanca and Azzi are on the Fort Worth Regional 1 All-Tournament Team!
And really after the two woman contest that was the ND/Vandy game - not any surprise in the other two selected either.

Defense will be what wins this tournament if the Huskies go all the way. It will make things so much easier if the offense starts to play up to their potential. Everyone in their way to title 13 plays defense, so they have their work cut out for them.

In the last 3 games Ashlynn is averaging 25 minutes per game but is only averaging 3.3 pts on 17% (4 for 23) shooting including 0% (0 for 11) on 3-pointers. How can she turn this around? We can’t have more of the same if we want to get no. 13.

Did UConn win those three games? Well...

And btw...you know how many points Ashlynn scored in last year's Semi-final and Championship games?
4, against SoCar.

There’s this picture from yesterday. She was also wearing some kind of medical device at yesterday’s presser

Just a couple of thoughts that probably will just echo what's already been said:
-- I thought Azzi played distracted. There were at least three ill-advised passes that ND easily picked off. Also, whoever was guarding her did, IMHO, a great job keeping her from being very open.
-- Blanca was almost indescribably good.
-- UConn's defense was not as obviously dominant as it has been in other games, but if antone wants to knwo whay ND had all those turnovers, that's where to look.
-- A lot of very near misses, with the ball bouncing off the rum, in strange ways ar rattling around and falling out. Geno's comments about the baskets and the balls seem to be on target.
-- There are good reasons why Jana doesn't start, but after what she showed in just a few minutes, it might be wise for Geno to consider swapping her in for just short periods from time to time. Her game is just very different from the way the other bigs play, which can cause confusion among the opponents.

I think Allie defers to others and she doesn't have a pull-up jumper that she seems comfortable with. Other teams just have to stay in front of her. Next year, she will have to be more assertive if she wants to stay on the court.
I was kind of thinking before the tournament started that she would just seamlessly become the Azzi Fudd replacement next season. But I have lost some confidence in that projection.

The most egregrious non-call of the game for me was when Ashlynn Shade got a rebound under the basket and was virtually assaulted by two Notre Dame players without a foul being called. The fouls ended up 18-18. Connecticut was ahead of Notre Dame in every other statistical column of the scoresheet.

I might have to up my BP meds for the Final Four, I don't see this getting easier...Our defense is always tough, hopefully we get some more help from Blanca, Shade finds her shot and Azzi gets open a little more. Sarah Strong is amazing.

You are missing my point. In those 2 games she averaged 16.5 minutes, averaging 2 pts a game on only 2 shots taken per game. If she keeps consuming massive minutes while taking 8 shots per game, not 2, then we will be in trouble if she keeping missing.

They did call a foul - on Ash

Congrats UCONN!!!

Ashlyn and KK as always, great defense and giving the team second chance points. But we need the two of you to get it together offensively. We're 25 plus points better when KK is hitting on all cylinders.
Allie way to contribute! More Jana please!!
Great game Blanca!!! Great team win!!!!

Go Huskies!!!
"The two of you".....I assume the two of them are paying attention.

Like others have said UConn needs KK and Ash to contribute on scoring. But I’m glad that they are still doing other things to help.
That might or might not be true. And other teams might have the same issue and our 3 can be very productive. . No easy games keft These kids were guarding Hidalgo today. A bit tiring I think. Harmon is the one player who comes close to Hidalgo and she has Booker with her.

I think many here need to be reminded of the final four game against Stanford. The halftime score was 20 - 12 Stanford. UConn short horribly. UConn came back and won that game 53 - 47 thanks Maya Moore.

Geno has said many times Defense wins championships.
