Misses the point. Caitlin has put Iowa into the final four, but we beat them handily this year and we did it without Paige or Dorka. If you think we won’t beat them next year with Paige, you’re dreaming. Paige was the better player the last two years because she made her team win. Caitlin is doing much better this year, and against top opponents — Iowa isn’t losing to Creighton anymore. But having Paige in our lineup again will be explosive, like having that magic spark she brought every other time she played for us. No one else brings that, not Caitlin not Boston not Jones not Brink not Reese not Berger not Miller. The closest I’ve seen to that sort of inspirational player this year has been Sheldon. It’s time to get serious in the way we talk about players.
Paige was not the better player last year at all..in fact a lot of people thought that CC should have been NPOY over Boston last year..last year CC did something no women had ever done and that's lead the nation in scoring and assists..she can do everything Paige can do and more..dribbling I'll call it even..rebounding=CC.driving to the basket=CC paige hardly ever drives to the basket while it is a big part of CC's game..shooting a slight edge to Paige although her 3 point shot went way down from her freshman year both before she got hurt and afterwards..as far as distance no one has ever shot it better than CC..58.8% from 25' or more..that is simply amazing..making your teammates better ..both do that extremely well..and maybe the biggest difference between Paige and Caitlin is DURABILITY..Paige 's leg just gives away without any contact against ND and misses almost half the season and this year tears her ACL and misses the whole year
Going into next year Caitlin Clark is the NPOY and odds on favorite to win it again untill someone can beat her out
Magic Johnson declared that Caitlin Clark's career has been 2nd to only Diana Taurasi..I think he may know a little bit more about basketball players than you do
CC could quit basketball after this year and still be considered one of the all time greats

She needs to stay for two years….she is not ready….and she must become a legitimate outside threat to improve her WNBA value

This post is entertaining but still misses the point. The better player is always (ALWAYS) the one who makes her team win. Stats are great but don’t give a full picture of what a player means to a team. Paige was NPOY two years ago even though Caitlin had better stats. Why? Because she made UConn win. She carried the team to a final four as a freshman. This has always been the problem with Caitlin’s game — and it’s not all her fault — that even though Iowa would be nowhere without her, she couldn’t carry them to a final four. Well, she fixed that this year. She upped her game both as a score and a passer. She clearly deserves the NPOY this year as I’ve been saying for quite a while. And as I said in a recent post, if she engineers an upset against SC and maybe even wins an NC, we’ll all be putting her in the GOAT conversation.

But Paige is still the better overall player in my book, and I’m pretty sure after they both graduate well all remember it that way. Why? Because we know she makes us win. And it’s not by filling up the stat sheet. Also worth noting that UConn players tend not to have the gaudy stats, and this is because of the team concept we play in.
