Reims (city in the Champagne region of France, also famous for it's gothic cathedral)
most people pronounce it "Remm". it is actually pronounced "Rance".

Nice, but its France so there are 10k more cities to pick from to make this list....too easy.

Been there. That one was a shock.

Someone mentioned La Canada - we have a street here, but in reality that's just a Spanish pronunciation. Lots of them in Arizona - Ajo for example is Ah-ho to everyone except one of our friends who insists it is Age-o.

Also back in Texas, Buda - like Byuda; and Llano which is pronounced Lanno.
