OT: Not a quiz, but for fun - Name a place not pronounced the way it looks

Most streets in New Orleans, especially those named after one of the muses. Calliope, Terpsichore, etc.

Oneco, CT…it’s Oh—nee-co, not Won-co. I‘ve heard Poquonnock mangled every way possible. And, Groton does not have a long ‘o’.

My sister lives in Puyallup. Daffodil capital!
I learned something new today, thanks.

If you want tulips, head a little north to Mt. Vernon and the Skagit Valley.

1. Started a game for Bristol Red Sox vs the West Haven Yankees at beautiful Quigley Stadium, jk, in 77'. First pitch of game, homer to Damaso Garcia. Second pitch, double by Domingo Ramos. Third pitch, homer to Mike Heath. Fouth pitch, ball one, followed by fifth pitch that Jerry Narron hit about 400 feet over the right field fence. Five pitches, four runs and 3 homers. At least all of the guys who tattoed me made it to the big leagues.

My manager, J.K. Kennedy walks to the mound and asked me if I actually warmed up before the game. I said I did and he just turned around and walked back to the dugout. Pitched the rest of the game and we ended up winning 5 to 4.

2. Gave up a homerun to Dale Murphy that went over the light tower in left field at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket. Longest ball I have ever seen hit, it was beautiful.

You always remember the screwups in life in much greater detail than the victories.

Pfafftown, NC

Corolla, NC

Leicester, NC
Mebane, NC (not MEbane) (Meb en)

Thought it might get folks thinking - idea came to me today, as I live in Tucson, which certainly fits the question. Someone on the phone checking an address called it Tuck-son.

So any other candidates (yes, I do know a few more). Also places pronounced 2 different ways would fit the bill as well.
Port Hueneme Port Y-nee-mee

Been there. That one was a shock.

Someone mentioned La Canada - we have a street here, but in reality that's just a Spanish pronunciation. Lots of them in Arizona - Ajo for example is Ah-ho to everyone except one of our friends who insists it is Age-o.

Also back in Texas, Buda - like Byuda; and Llano which is pronounced Lanno.
