Not sure a former media guy that has been coming up with really shaky takes on X should be trusted to put forth the opinion the stadium is an issue.

He’s an absolutely imbecile. He’s crazier than 2/3rds of the people here.
If the B1G told them if they built a campus stadium they would get an invite, the legislature might consider it. Otherwise there is no support for building another stadium. Just a very very long putt.

I actually wonder what would happen there.

I’m guessing it would be:
20% “let’s build it”;
20% “We’re UConn! Who do they think they are?!”;
and 60% “there’s an abandoned softball field off of exit 67, let’s build a stadium there!”

And of course, Chris Murphy would be in favor of UConn football remaining in the Big East.

I guess it would depend on how it was framed, but I would think "just don't be so embarrassing that UConn again misses out on a P4 invite" would be the general consensus.

Those clowns would shutter football to make us into Providence.

Like I said, it would be interesting to see the size of the various factions. There are many that cannot wait to get out of the Big East and the thing holding that back is UConn football.

Which is exactly why you invest in football. They are mind numbing in their stupidity.

It's literally just Canzano and Wilner speculating. Some other guy tweeting about their speculation and then Flug talking about it.

It's podcasters and Youtubers looking for clicks. There is nothing to it.
Clownzano...

Do you actually read the basketball board? 80% of the posts in the Val Ackerman thread were negative on the BE and how it was holding us back. The remaining 20% was Nelson carrying her water.
I do think he is failing to appreciate how much NIL and the TV money has driven home the reality of being in a P4 to the "basketball only" folks.

After moving, then they can all go back to pining for the glory days of the Big East.

And go where exactly? The NBA? NESCAC? The Yankee Conference? Football is the one sport that can unlock potential pathways. BB on its own, as we have seen several times now, will not do it. What is that expression about doing the same thing repeatedly and always failing? The definition of stupidity? Invest in FB.

Let me try again:
-ZooCougar thinks majority of the basketball boards wants to disband the football team.
-I disagree, I think even those people now understand that the football team playing somewhere above their standard "dumpster fire" level as that is the only way to get a P4 invite (as was evidenced by the Big 12 football schools rejecting UConn and their embarrassingly bad football program last time).

For everyone's sake, hopefully Candle turns out to be the right hire for the program.

Not to worry, HCJC is the right guy. Not flashy. Gets the job done.

But what I do not understand is this so called faction over in BB that do not comprehend the accretion calculation. If the UConn men and women won both their titles every year for the next decade, UConn would still fail that calculation. (I am exaggerating but stay with me.) For the simple reason that the football schools were allowed to shield their revenue from the NCAA under threat of leaving, and the BB schools (a much bigger group) could not prevent that. So even if UConn eliminated FB, it would barely move the numbers.

The basketball only's seem to have tunnel vision and see these non-con schedules we're putting together as a "Oh man, look at the match-ups and the eyeballs that will be on us" scenario and not the canary singing that, it's a necessity because our conference wins aren't holding muster on the national stage save for 1 or 2 other teams in the conference. The other canary was on full display at the NFL draft in that the overwhelming majority of draftees were taken from P4 schools. NIL is concentrating the talent pool and BB only's need to recognize the symptoms and that that is what's happening in the Big East right now. Small private schools on 8M a year cannot compete in the pay for play era and as more talent is drawn away from schools like them and into the P4, that's the fate of the Big East. Unless they're hoping that the FOX, CBS, NBC or ABC/ESPN is willing to let the P4 schools spend themselves into bankruptcy and crater their money printing machine.

Long term thinking from the networks? One can only hope. I think they know that things will be different in 2.5 years so they are just trying to get closer to a monopoly so that they can thumb their noses at the incoming administration.

Yeah, I am fully aware that being in a large conference dominated in its thinking by small Catholic schools is not a good match for BB and it has only gotten worse with NIL, revenue sharing, and the settlement. The true canary was the decades that the BE had to upgrade their women's programs and did not because they were struggling to keep up on the men's side.

You do realize that the Boneyard Hoop board is a bunch of olds. In addition to the geniuses here there are plenty of other humans in the fanbase who think we need to 86 the football program.

WBB was a super high opportunity space too. Only a few schools really took it seriously. The BE Catholics could have jumped all over that decades ago. But no.
