Our FB is such S that we have no rivals there. We just need to win. Hoops would have some fun matchups - throw in Iowa St for hoops.
I think the BigXII in football will help us be rivals with WVU and Cincy and UCF...just think of Texas Tech visiting East Hartford on a cold November day...

The ACC is unstable and if we join, then in a few years we'll be looking for another conference. Duke, BCU and Fruit U would be fun beating them every year... Louisville...

To me..either conference would be great, but for the stability, I'd go with the Big XII

It’s summer, so it is Big 12 season.

I cannot think of a less interesting place for us to go outside of the American. Just no appeal whatsoever. But if there’s a P4 seat, you gotta take a P4 seat.

But absolutely giggling at the idea that the Big 12 would need a financial plan from us. Do you see what we’re doing now, hayseeds? We will do that, but with more money. And the fact that they mention “instate haters” makes me think they’re pulling stuff out of their asses. The ‘haters’ would be the national media and maybe one of our senators.
Personally It would be nice to send Florida State somewhere else and bring Uconn in.
The only problem is they have made so many enemies, I sincerely doubt anyone would take them. And except for 1 year after their Championship with Winston they have sucked in football. And that's their only calling card.

FSU's move is to hope B1G courting causes the SEC to panic about sharing Florida. I don't think it is going to work, because B1G teams have deeper pockets and are already importing southern talent.

Can't see FSU in the B10 - from my perspective, if there is one thing the B10 has been consistent with in expansion is higher academia, AAU and on the eastern side of the country, geographic continuity. It'd have to think any expansion into the ACC starts with Virginia, UNC and then GA Tech, Miami. I have a hard time seeing UNC break from UVa and sinking into the annual immorality known as the SEC. I'd be shocked if UNC goes that way, especially now with the B10 showing out.

Maybe the B10 ties it off with Stanford/ND or Stanford/Cal from there to create some type of division structure for all sports. They then would have just about ever top flagship public university in the country outside of Texas & Florida.

Seems strange to say in a “football drives the bus” world but in hindsight the moment when the ACC collapse began was when the conference let FSU pick Louisville over UConn. We were a much better cultural fit.
FSU is the cancer of that conference

And BC is the metastases

wouldn't this be true regardless if we got picked over Louisville?
what would be the difference in FSU's dissatisfaction, having us over them?

maybe i read this wrong

I still think the most likely scenario is we end up in a smaller backfilled ACC at some point after they get raided. PAC12 all over again but not as severe. Some combo (maybe 3-4) of FSU/GT/Clem/VA/UNC/Duke/?Miami get raided by SEC/B10 (maybe even Big 12!). Maybe Calford returns to PAC12. We end up with NCSU/Wake/Pitt/Lville/BCU/Cuse/VT/SMU and whoever gets denied by SEC/B10. Maybe a Temple/Memphis like team comes with us.

That or Big12? I dunno. Depends who would still be around in ACC. If Duke still there and a couple others. That’s better for region/culture. But B12 will be superior.

Of course. Not that we have control over any of this.

The problem with joining the Big 12 would be that our rivals would not actually be our rivals. We could be there for 50 years and not be the school that any of them consider to be their rival.

It's like when SU went to the ACC and were beating their chests about the new rivalry with Duke. Just never was a thing.
FWIW I do think there are rivals that develop pretty quickly and naturally because of the competition on the field. Maybe not true blood hating rivals like we would have naturally with BC or someone if we were playing them every year with the geographic relevance, but as a Nebraska fan, games against Wisconsin and Minnesota get both fan bases irrationally juiced when 15 years ago nobody in Lincoln or Madison/Minneapolis would’ve been remotely interested in playing those games.

Even in the NBE, UConn/Creighton has become a pretty intense/fun series. Had we even ever played them before we rejoined the league? In the AAC, those Cincinnati games against Cronin were always heated and fans chirped constantly.

We will play a barn burner against someone unexpected who has a loud Twitter fanbase like Okie State or Utah or something and we’ll start hating each other. Whomever we beat first in a Big 12 conference football game is going to be made a laughing stock by the rest of the league mates. Some rival will develop, it’s just the way it works with sports when you’re regularly playing meaningful games (which UConn always will).

Here’s an idea: befriend someone who has a son being recruited by Candle and ask him what this staff is telling kids what their expectation is on where UConn will be. Hint, it may surprise you.

Not sure a former media guy that has been coming up with really shaky takes on X should be trusted to put forth the opinion the stadium is an issue.
By clicking Show More, Williams' last sentence asserts, "For UConn to solve the football problem they need to commit to an on campus stadium." Even for a decade down the road in the State of Connecticut and Town of Mansfield, such a commitment seems a bridge too far.

If the B1G told them if they built a campus stadium they would get an invite, the legislature might consider it. Otherwise there is no support for building another stadium. Just a very very long putt.
