I’m curious, let’s say the state of CT subsidizes the university with about 35-40 mil a year. You get $30 mil from the Big12. Does the state drop the subsidy to 5-10mil or do they keep giving you $40 mil as well? I keep reading on here about all the things you are going to do with this money. Seems to me you have already been getting plenty. Do I have this wrong?
The subsidy really comes from the student body. They pay it, whether they know that or not. Just like they pay for the super fancy gym UConn built.

It remains to be seen if UConn will reduce those fees but my guess is no, they’ll use the money to update Gampel and the Rent.

Subsidy really comes from the state. Fees intuition only constitute about 41% of the University's annual revenues. The state pumps about $329 million a year into the University. That is an excellent investment since Connecticut returns about $5.3 billion to the state annually.

UConn Puts Value to Connecticut at $5.3 Billion Per Year

If I had to guess, the plan would be to taper it down. You hope that revenue increases over time so you can have the athletic department be self sustaining. It won't fully happen, of course, because it doesn't work like that for 95% of schools.

I think we're in at 16 but probably not 14.

If we aren't in at 16 then what are we even doing? It basically cements our status as a G5 program and real questions need to start being asked.
Nah. Armageddon is coming for remaining PAC and ACC schools. We would probably join them in an East/West conference in due time.

JackMac is trolling but that would be best case scenario for UConn. We’d probably get a nod for the ACC at that point
The ACC will crumble without FSU and Clemson. Don’t want to be on that sinking ship.

when this is all said and done there will be 3 conferences, the SEC, B1G, and B12. If you’re not in one of those conferences, it’s all over.

Oh good. Now we can ask questions. Problem solved.

We have been screwed for the long term from the moment that Louisville went to the ACC instead of us. There is not much more that we can do other than spend money we don't have to try to bring our reputations in football. Yelling at administrators like they can control what other schools think of us won't accomplish anything.

Who is calling for administrators to be yelled at? The President, BOT and the state are the ones that need to ask questions about what exactly we're doing if we are going to be stuck in purgatory for an extended period of time.

We've been stuck in purgatory for an extended period of time. Their asking questions took us out of the AAC and to where we are now.
