Please understand that nobody thinks the non-key tweets are true because they were tweeted. They may be true they may not be true of they may have slivers of truth in them. We have no freaking idea. But the fact that something was tweeted by a WV basement dweller or a Minnesota guy doesn't make the underlying assertion false either. Honestly, the key tweeters get it wrong just as often.

Sources on Orangebloods are indicating expansion is hitting major roadblocks.

- The networks don't like any of the teams nor that the Big 12 is even considering expanding (loophole in contract not meant for G5 additions)...they appear to be willing to litigate to stop it.

- None of the teams have 8 votes

- Bowslby could be in danger of getting fired for the whole fiasco

- If the Big 12 crumbles, UT reportedly leaning B1G due to academic profile but is expecting to have ability to join any of the other P4's. Money and allowed travel partners are obviously keys.

- If the Big 12 crumbles, sources say we'll all hear about it well before the GOR expires.

This is just stupid. They should have thought about the loophole not meant for G5 teams when they executed the contract. The Big 12 LOST 3 P5 teams and were on the verge of collapse when they signed the deal. What level programs did the networks think they were going to attract? So now the idea is to spend $20 million (the same money used to grow the brand) on lawyers and court costs because the original lawyers were to stupid to write it into the original contract? No wonder ESPN (among other reasons) is losing subscribers.

That's more BS, ESPN always knew that Cincinnati and UConn were possible Big 12 targets. It's been talked about for several years. The issue is the American has turned out to be much better than expected and it can grow. ESPN would not back Cincinnati to the Big 12 over UConn for any reason except to keep the American viable. UConn produces a product that gets ratings in the New York metro and helps grow the league. Cincinnati cannot do that. This is ESPN trying to preserve the American and destroy the Big 12. It is disgusting.

To add to this, the perception being fed to the public that UConn won't support it's teams even if they are in the Big 12 is preposterous. It is very easy for anyone to either look up or be shown a full Rentschler Field or a full Gampel Pavilion going crazy for UConn sports on the web. How about MSG for Michigan State? Michigan football at the Rent was electric and featured star studded audience. A writer stated the other day that our fanbase wouldn't support a game in NYC more than once every few years. Further, he was saying that in regard to football games against OU and UT. That's so insane it is borderline slander. It's outrageous.

So, it would be very easy for any conference to take us knowing full well that once they see our stadium for a game featuring Texas or Oklahoma or Florida or Alabama or even Texas Tech, we belong. An administrator voting for us wouldn't have to worry about blow back because the evidence is all there that we belong. It doesn't matter that Joe Schmoe in South Texas or some writer in Oklahoma City don't get it. They will very quickly see it and that stuff will be put to bed immediately. Compare that to what would happen if you brought in schools like UCF or Memphis. Those schools have few fans at all and even when they are good, they aren't there in droves. They don't have big fanbases over many generations like we do. We have video evidence of average UConn teams selling out like crazy in a good conference. The good t UConn teams matching up with Texas and OU would warrant expansion of the stadium.

Orangebloods has one good thing going for it, a writer named Alex Dunlap who Charlie Strong likes and grants access. Otherwise, they're meh. Like most University of Texas insider info for $9.95/month their actual information has all but stopped since the loquacious Powell, Dodds and Brown were replaced by the much more reserved Fenves, Perrin and Strong.

And Orangeblood's owner/publisher, Geoff Ketchum... good gawd, what a tool.

Out of the scores of people who earn their living covering the Texas program there are only about four or five I'd trust.

CL constantly tells me everyone nobody believes non-key tweets.

Reading this thread makes it obvious that some percentage of people do.

I'm not sure how that is controversial.
 
There was no such thing as G5 or P5 at the time that Big 12 TV contract was signed. It's total bullsheete from that "insider." The big 12 can add whatever school they want per the contract.

We were still members of a BCS conference called the Big East at the time.
