There is smoke. Realistically who are they going to add? The PAC 12 remains?

They aren’t poaching any P5 conferences.

Big XII's GOR expires first. Tell FSU they can take in some Texas schools and Okie State, and throw Kansas in to placate the basketball schools, and bob's your uncle.

So we can be scrambling in 10 years when the ACC gets raided? No, thanks.
Our perspective can only be accepted if people believe our addition to the B12 makes the B12 as attractive a conference as the ACC without the disharmony that exists there.

We still will be behind them in football at least for now. But our addition plus U of A really cements the B12 as the best basketball conference.

In bb we would be what the SEC is in football.

Yeah.
That gives us ten years to strengthen our football program. The reason the ACC would get raided is because they have better brands than XII. And northeast rivalries would allow basketball to maintain dominance. More likely chance UCONN is one of those raided teams.

Not going to happen. Are people paying attention? Just because that toddler FSU has a meltdown doesn't mean anything. The B1G is about to be full. They aren't taking any ACC schools. The SEC could, but do they really want or need to? Would ESPN fund a move between its two leagues (no)?

I've said for ages now, it will be 4 conferences of 16-20 schools. The ACC is going to be one of the four. The PAC is not. The ACC has been absolutely brain-dead on this. They sit at 15 now. They can just add UConn and be in better shape immediately. If they want a better footprint, get Cal and Stanford. Bix XII takes UA, ASU and Utah and we are done. Oregon State and Wazzu keep PAC name and credits begin raiding the MWC and AAC.

There is something about UConn talking to the ACC here.
Maybe it’s in the video? It’s not in the text.

In this episode, Jason and Shelby Scheer discuss all the latest in realignment. Normally we have questions that are specifically discussed, but this is a unique time and in this episode we simply have a detailed conversation about the current state of realignment.

Although it is not completely finalized yet, sources indicate that Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah are all likely to join the Big 12. One source said that it would have to fall apart for the three schools not to make the move and the ideal plan for the Big 12 is to make the biggest possible impact, which is announcing all three at once. Although it is not set in stone, there could be an announcement as soon as Friday.

Should things fall apart, it would likely be Utah's fault. It is unknown how that would impact the Arizona schools, but Utah AD Mark Harlan has long been a major supporter of the Pac-12 and has been extremely hesitant to leave the conference.

Part of our discussion in this episode is why this is a choice that no president wants to make, but one that they all had to. It was their own decisions and a long line of miscues from the conference that have gotten everybody to the point of the entire conference as we know it no longer existing.
It may seem like we are rooting for the demise of the Pac-12, but that is not the case. We explain why our opinions have shifted towards the Big 12 and analyze what it means to be loyal to a program and conference overall.

There is also some possible movement in the Big 10 that would take Oregon and Washington with possibly Stanford and California as well. There's a possibility it all moves quickly, but even if it doesn't, the college landscape is clearly changing rapidly.

Television is in control of most of these decisions now and we discuss the response of ESPN as Fox moves to dominate college football and hold some of the most important cards in the business.

Most of the talk revolves around the next step for Arizona and why it makes sense. There is a board meeting scheduled for Thursday night and the Big 12 has a vote that is likely to take place in the afternoon. Anything can happen in realignment and with major networks and decisions involved, but figuring this goes according to plan, Friday is the day Arizona's future changes.

More spitballing/feces tossing @ wall:

-> * It is unknown what will happen with the ACC should multiple schools leave, but UConn has had preliminary dialogue with the conference. As of now, it is unlikely that UConn will join the Big 12 because the four corner schools look as if they will go together, which was unexpected as recently as a week ago.<-

I can get a lot of consolation beating the crap out of Cincinnati and rubbing @kobe’s face in our success.
Lol, well, yeah, there's that.

Agree until the last sentence. You take your opportunities where you find them. If we've got a chance today, we jump all over it. Imagining that things will lineup exactly right so we will have another opportunity in the future isn't a plan. It's a daydream

I agree it’s dreaming. But I think we can achieve a winning football program faster against ACC competition while protecting basketball. And I said “more likely” (than XII).

Yeah and a huge risk. As they say you take the bird in hand.

If we are talking to the ACC, that is bad news. They have never had major interest in us (and adding us does nothing to placate FSU’s temper tantrum), and indicates the Big 12 is not happening. The Nelsonmuntz nightmare scenario that everyone scoffed at is on the table.

Losing to Utah, the second school in a state that has a smaller population, is much more spread out, and less wealthy than Connecticut would be a bad look for UConn’s leadership.

There's already been two super conferences in football for a while now in terms of money and one super conference in football in terms of winning. If they think those two conferences will get even bigger and more powerful with one of them taking home all the hardware every year, well duh.

If we get passed up again it's just the fault of the BOT. Those are the people that have been guiding us through this mess for the last decade+ and failing to right the ship in a timely manner.
