How does "Big Ten Man" know what the Big 12 wants?

Well, that's exactly it, isn't it? If there were a B1G insider saying that UConn wasn't a factor in Big 12 expansion plans, what would that suggest to you?

@PromiscuousJawa what you playing dominos?

@kahunacougar Patterson gone is the first domino to fall. More to come! See countdown to the next one.

@PromiscuousJawa 2nd domino playoff announcement?

Chris Smith‏@cincycsmith 6h6 hours ago
@PromiscuousJawa how many dominos going to fall?

Utini‏@PromiscuousJawa 5h5 hours ago
@cincycsmith each depends on the one before it. If one doesn't fall, those after it won't. One step at a time.

Chris Smith‏@cincycsmith 5h5 hours ago
@PromiscuousJawa I assume if all dominos fall correct then expansion is the outcome

@PromiscuousJawa why such vagueness

Those tweets are definitely "non key".

That the BTM knows rule 1 of conference realignment

That Flugaur is talking out his butt?

Or that his connections in the B1G tell him something else about UConn that would make them not a factor for the B12.
I really think it's not a stretch to infer that the B12 has no interest in us. Geographically, it makes absolutely no sense and our football brand is not currently good enough to make up for that. If we were located in St. Louis, for example, I think this would be a completely different story.

I don't disagree with that, though it does surprise me that Texas, Oklahoma et al wouldn't want an opportunity to expand their brand in the Northeast.

I don't think that's a very high priority for either of them, and our football brand is not good enough to justify the resources necessary to consistently travel this far for, at best, a third-rate priority area.

But why would a B1G insider have any insight about that?

I don't know, I think for most of the Big 12 the benefits of playing a game a stone's throw away from NYC once a year would outweigh the travel costs. I mean think about all the money that Texas could raise from NYC alumni if they had a UT football game to invite them to that was only 2.5 hours away?

I can tell you firsthand there are a lot of Texas, Oklahoma and West Virginia grads and fans in NYC for sure. And for the remaining Big 12, they may not have numbers, but I can almost guarantee if they are alums living in the City they probably have some money to their names.

If I were UT or OU I'd be out there pushing for UConn.

Here is a thought. UConn makes absolutely no sense for the Big 12. Maybe that is why?

I will hand it to Whaler. Almost no one on the Board was earlier than Whaler to predict that UConn had limited value to other leagues and would be left on the outside. If we get left out of the Big 12 expansion, it is probably over for UConn's chances to join a P5 league.

LOL. UConn to the big 12 makes no sense. Taking passive aggressive shots at me doesn't change that.

There are little factors like geography and culture that matter regardless of what UConn fans think. Warde you suck because UConn was excluded from the Pac 12 and Big 12 expansion!

They are at the mercy of the ACC. Right or wrong that is the situation. It's not really my fault for noticing that prior leadership put them in this position.

At the moment nearly all of the B-12 believes WVU is too far from the base of the conference. The idea of going significantly further north and east must be very appealing to these schools.

Flugempire has been the most accurate of all these posters. His rationale makes a ton of sense. The dude of WV is a waste of time and I stopped reading his drivel years ago.

That being said, I don't profess to know why UCONN doesn't come across the Big 12 radar - but all the smoke that is coming from that conference tells me that it is the Rutgers of conferences and the break up will happen regardless of who comes in outside of Florida State and Clemson- and that isn't happening.
If the Big 12 really wanted to build a conference, they would look to UCONN and the Northeast. But they don't have the will or the trust to do this, so I really don't care if Houston or UCF go there. It will be quick money and then they will look for life rafts with half the conference when Texas and Oklahoma go boom.
UCONN needs to continue building toward AAU and ultimately the Big 10 will be the landing spot. This is my my hope and wish..

Because he's imaginary and thus is "interested in" whatever get the Floog retweets?

That's where I think he's wrong - he's indicating he has information that the B12 isn't interested. If he'd just said he has no reason to believe there's interest, or his belief is it makes no sense, then he'd be fine. Generally, Flug is pretty good about not insinuating he has inside info when it's preposterous to believe he does. That's what makes him marginally more credible than the Dude.
