His points on hockey are correct, though he left out one caveat - MN, Wisc, et al don't want more conference games with bad opponents that are far away. If BU and BC were going to join the league, all six would be 100% on board. As for the recruiting ground, those schools don't give two craps about recruiting in CT or New England, they all pull from Minnesota high school hockey and other upper midwest areas. There is a grand total of one player from New England in the entire B1G conference. That's not because they can't recruit in New England, they just don't. It's just how it is. Adding UConn (or BU and BC) would mean absolutely nothing for B1G recruiting.
That said, the fact that UConn is investing in its hockey program is not a negative overall. They just have to build it to a point where it would not drag down and dilute the B1G. With HE having 11 other teams, it's not a big deal to have one that sucks but is promising in the future.
