OT: Non Husky Topic. If you think Michael Jordan was the GOAT.....

There’s no thinking MJ is the GOAT he is. I’m a Knicks fan I hated him and still do just like fans of other teams hate UConn.

And more evidence, one of the greatest moments in the last 50 years of Knicks history is John Starks, a journeyman guard at best dunking on MJ. Not a title, not series win, not even a win, but 2 points on the greatest player still living.

Somebody dunks on LeBron, who had serious MJ envy issues his entire life, and no one really cares that much because Bron is at most weeks away from some petty PR stumble.

This is funny. And simply incorrect. Tatum’s dunk on LeBron in the ECF way back was pretty much his career highlight before this title.

tom haberstroh is a LOSER. wish i hadnt been reminded he existed but glad he's been demoted to yahoo, which i also didnt know still existed.

The traveling epidemic in the NBA was largely influenced by NBA refs who refused to call Jordan for traveling. Once they started to let Jordan take 4 or 5 steps the genie was out of the bottle. The refs missed the call in the pre-Jordan era. But they incorporated it into the game to accommodate MJ.
what on earth is compelling you to do this?

Of Jordan wanted to beat you and send a message while doing it, he could almost at will. None of the other pretenders could do that, not LeBron, not Kobe, not even Wilt or Kareem against their main competition (mostly Boston).

MJ could and did, consistently. That's why he's the GOAT analytics and cherry picked stats be damned.
2012-2018 Lebron was the same way. The way he played with the East, especially in those Cleveland years, were insane.

Lebronto was an all-time funny series.

I grew up watching Bird, Magic, Kareem and Dr J.

Jordan was just one of the many greats.

I know it seems like I'm a hater and I don't care.

If you call Jordan the goat, where does that leave Bird and Magic, Akeem. I mean these guys are legends.

They literally changed the game to accommodate him. The Jordan rules.

Jordan was special. He was incredibly amazing, but the in the NBA, there is no goat.

RIP Kobe and I loved him as a player, but his death really clouded y’all’s minds about how good he actually was.

Couldn't agree more. I don't think Kobe's sniffing the top-10.

Wasn't even the best player on his own team when he played with Shaq. 44.7% career shooter, 32.9% from 3.

As for the point of this post, it seems pretty clear that the Bulls scorekeeper went nuts that one season. But it also seems that the other top defensive players also benefited from home cooking. So I think it's fair to disregard Jordan's steal & block numbers but that doesn't mean he didn't deserve DPOY. His main competition, Cooper, was injured.

Magic and Bird were amazing. Hakeem and Dr J were spectacular, but a notch below those guys. Jordan was clearly a notch or two above all of them.

I was a Bad Boy Pistons fan. Then I wanted Cliff’s Blazers to win in 1992. God, I hated Jordan.

He’s the GOAT. His steal total or DPOY was never even was a consideration in that. He was a great defender, but that ranked way down on the list of things that made me fear him. Stockton’s assists were inflated heavily in that era, but he was still a great passer.

The GOAT debate is from 6 straight rings minus the baseball experiment. Never being in a game 7 during that run.

I thought he was a better player before he started winning rings, or at least more fun to watch.
He lost to the Magic btw. It wasn’t six straight rings.

Can’t wait for in 10 years when Lebron fans get to say he went to 9 straight finals. What first year with the Lakers?

Jordan was in baseball shape when he lost to Orlando. In his winning prime, he never really lost.

And yes, Jordan didn't win his first 7 years or so in the NBA. Tho you can make the argument he was a better player in his early years than his winning prime. But people only count rings these days, despite it being a team effort to get rings.

Did Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum suddenly get better? I'm sure they did. But you add all star Jrue, all star Porzingis, and you get rings.

And I am a Knicks fan so I always root for MJ to lose.

The fact this debate is so big only tells me there’s nothing else to discuss in the NBA right now. You don’t have any dynasty building. The league is not nearly as marketable or flashy as it once was. It’s stale. And the reality is this argument is so one sided but it’s propped up and continued anyway.

Boston looks like a dynasty building because they have great defensive talent. Along with their tremendous shooting.

He got MVP votes the year he lost to Orlando. The "not in shape" excuse is lazy.

Jordan is at worst the second best player in the history of the game and yet you see fans making weird excuses for him all the time. The Wizards years existed, too.
If you think he's the best, let him stand on his actual record, not excuse everything else

Absurd. Jordan didn't win anything until the league made rule changes that helped Jordan.

He was Stern's baby and you couldn't guard him without getting into foul trouble.

I can't deny that the man was great, but some of that greatness was largely due to the NBA catering to their new poster boy.

ESPN started coming to it's own during his prime and he was everywhere.

Jordan wasn't a notch or two better than Bird, Magic or Akeem. They were all on the same level.

Jordan was spoiled by the NBA. LeBron is a bigger baby.

Hey Lebron got hurt the year they missed the finals too. He never really missed it that year either!
