No Blanca for Tenn

I just saw a video with Geno where he admitted that Serah is a definite go, but Blanca is definitely out for tomorrow's game. What are your thoughts?

This will be an additional test for our team as they have to adjust playing without Blanca.. She really sparks us on the press it may work without her but we will not be as effective. She is also a great one on one defender, slasher to the hoop and a good 3 point shooter.

I’m happy to have Serah who will be important against TN’s front line that crashes the boards in waves. It would certainly be helpful to have Blanca as well. But that’s not going to happen. So everyone else needs to step up.

Very true...but an opportunity for Allie to ride her hot hand, and step into that role.

Not commented much with focus on her 10 threes, was that like Blanca, Allie played many minutes at the 4 in the small ball line up.

We'll now get to see how she does against higher speed and athleticism.

Yeah shoulder injuries are not great for a BB player. 😮 At least her #1 skill is more of a havoc-creator than a marksman.

Its not up to Geno. The doctors and trainers have to OK her by how the injury reacts and how Blanca feels.
No one gets the okay-dokey until the doctors are satisfied.

I don't think it's Geno's decision to make. I hope he relies on his medical staff.

Its not Genos decision it is imo the medical staff. I wonder if the injury is that serious thats all. Shes sitting and I dont think UConn will lose. This is a great test for everyone else to step up and I believe they will. I am hoping Allie and Azzi are spot on.

Blanca fell hard on her shoulder during the Seton Hall game. As she got up she grabbed her shoulder for a second. But she stayed in the game and played well. I suspect it tightened up afterwards.

According to Maggie Vanoni, Geno said that Blanca will not be available tomorrow and "still needs a few days".

So hopefully she will be back for the upcoming home games against Butler and Creighton.

She has been wearing a harness on her left shoulder for the entire season. Whatever is going on there will need to be addressed at the end of the season, hopefully just rest and rehab. (Napheesa had shoulder labrum surgery after her first year.)

I watched her tossing passes to teammates during the warmups before the Xavier game and she was only using her right hand/arm.

Sucks that Blanca won't be able to play against Tennessee but like others have said, I rather have her 100% healthy come March than play in this matchup. We got this! Let's go, UConn!!

I hope people don't get on her if she does not shoot as well tomorrow. As far as Blanca not playing, the last team Tennessee lost to at home did not have a bench player as good as Blanca and they won. UConn should win, especially if Fudd is on offensively.
