give it a rest already
Your a nut job
Agreed. No argument from me here, I just think this process is a multi-year process, not a six month project with a Big Ten invite already in the mail.He does need to build up the football program, market it, get fans excited, get us as successful on the field as he can. The football program is just not an asset at the moment, it's dragging down an otherwise great university and athletic program.
I'm sure coaches are negatively recruiting against UConn (and everybody else). I'm sure they'll use the conference situation against us. I have a really hard time believing they think they can tell recruits about how our AD is a donut eating doofus and the recruits will care or buy it. They might care about or buy the possibility that PP (and the rest of the staff that's recruiting them) will get canned in a year, or that our schedule in 2014+ will suck, or that our TV situation is up in the air or that our fans are "french vanilla" in terms of supporting the program. So I think we as a fanbase can concentrate on those problems instead of inventing fantasies based on other fantasies based on twitter rumors based on tea leaves.
The B1G definitely has not made any overtures towards UConn, to my knowledge, but how do you get the impression we have never been on their radar? The Big Ten has not made one single overture towards UConn - we're not on their radar and never have been. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
i just want to make sure were all clear here. bc, temple and cuse will all lose there HC's this winter and will fill in the slots with coaches not good enough for uconn right? and also we will some how not get 1 recruit to flip post HC's leaving from any of these schools? ok. things are great here. warde is the ****ing best! didn't u see him give ko that contract? hes a ****ing rockstar! horay warde! yay football sucking fat rooster! big easy horayyyy!!!!!
the time was months ago to make several moves, and gear up a b10 resume that couldn't be denied. instead we are treading water as more acc schools start to look around and were falling lower and lower on that dam list of potential adds JD has.
meanwhile everyone here plays the 3 year rule and blah blah this and that instead of seeing the urgency that needed to happen. i love how ppl here can freak out about CR but are ok with the next year of fball on the table right now.
happy brew year becuase thats the only reason ppl will be at the rent this fall.
Icould understand the 3 year rule up to a point, but he wasn't his hire so why would that still apply to PP. If I was just coming into the program I would want my own HC to run the team. Methinks that WM has no clue on who to put in to coach so he just goes along with PP holding the reigns. shows real leadership in all aspects. Guess we will muddle through another boring season with piss poor fan attendance and a brooding PP on the sidelines. Happy New Year!
We've been mentioned favorably by multiple media outlets in B1G territory, going back to 2010. Before we made it to the Fiesta Bowl. Considering plenty of people have bandwagon mentalities, anything is possible if we get an invite to the B1G. We do have a decent sized fanbase for basketball alone. Football is the issue. If we went D-1A long ago, we probably wouldn't be where we are. It took UConn quite a while to grow in the shadows of all the private institutions here. Our student body was puny in the early 1900s. But the way things are unfolding, we are absolutely the #1 public university in the direct northeast. At least academically. Personally, don't know whether to include Penn State in the northeast, mid-Atlantic or the midwest. But if we include them in the northeast, we are #2.
Understandable. But there are some people who are linked to decision makers (presidents, in my view) saying there is the possibility of us being invited. With all due respect, you're basing this on favorable media reports. Fishy is basing this on talking to actual decision makers.
Difference.
then do something about it. can't u see thats how the ko deal got done? some of us here have been on it since before jc fell off the dam bike but it took all us fans to keep bitching and moaning and eventually the media caught on and then the national media. thats why the ko deal got done other wise warde would have sta longer on his thumb..
Do you honestly think people complaining on message boards helped get the KO deal done? That might be the craziest part of your post. We're talking about adults making important decisions, and the idea that they'd kowtow to the lunatic fringe is ridiculous. His entire decision making process remained unchanged from day one. From the get go he said he wanted to see how he coached and how grades panned out. He waited until he had a satisfactory answer to each of those and then gave him the extension.
It's also pretty crazy that you think 80% of UConn fans are happy with our coaching situation just because we have a hobby outside of constantly posting new threads to bitch about it. You really need to learn what you have control over and what you don't and focus on the first stuff.
If he comes in and fires PP right away what does that say to other prospective head coaches.....hey we'll give you a year and if you don't take us to a BCS game you're fired....no he is giving PP some time to do his thing and if it doesn't work out then he is gone and it tells other coaches that they will be allowed time to build a program and not be expected to fabricate a powerhouse in 7 months...it is a 15 - 20 year process
