I feel so horrible for her she has not gotten a single break since leaving UConn. I hope she isn't just totally demoralized. She was an iron woman her last couple years at UConn. Just terrible news :(
Poor Nika. :(

Will she keep plugging away? Others have gone thru worse but... 2 in 2 years is a lot. Maybe retire? Would love to see her in the WNBA but her health has to come first.

I think you have to come back at least one more time. Theoretically, she's rebuilt and ready to go after rehabilitation.

To quote that great philosopher Buckaroo Banzai, "The deuce you say." 😢

It didn't look good when it happened, but I didn't think it looked like an ACL either. The fact that she hadn't been back for a couple of weeks was an indicator, though.

Best wishes to Nika - just devastating news.

From what I could tell Nika had elevated her game on the offensive end after coming back from her first ACL injury, witness the game for Croatia in November 2025 when she hurt her ankle. One injury after another.

Now this is the other knee, same rehab. She will crush it but a shame that she is again out of action for an extended period.

Nika, you have a whole lot of friends and fans here in Connecticut who will be with you in spirit all the way!

Dang! My heart goes out to Nika. Poor young lady can't catch a break! Wishing her a safe and speedy recovery.

I would love it if Geno brought Nika on staff in some kind of temporary position (intern?) for next season to work with the guards while she rehabs her knee. She already knows the system, has an incredible work ethic and fire in her soul so she could be a great mentor. Rehabbing there in such familiar surroundings, working with the young guards feeling she has a purpose in knowing she's having an impact might make her grueling rehab process little easier emotionally as well. It could be a win win for all parties.

I wish she wasn't competing in the "most ACL tears in their career for a UConn player" contest. That is why it's so important that these kids have something else in their lives beyond their sport. Athletics can be derailed so suddenly.

Best wishes to Nika on April 9, her 25th birthday!

Selected in expansion draft today by Portland!!

Don't know if people can open the above link but it is the GM of the Portland Fire fielding a question about drafting Nika Mühl. What is so special is that, she is someone who obviously cares about Nika, she has known her since she was fourteen, said she loved that Nika had the opportunity to play at UConn and have all the success she had there! She also talked about how they wanted Nika to have a chance to succeed in the W and felt they could help her get back from her double injuries and give her that chance. Oh and ofc that Nika's personality will be an asset to their team. So feeling pretty good about her early b-day gift of being selected in the expansion draft by Portland - people who actually care about her and want to see her succeed :)

From Google Translate (interesting that the detected language is Bosnian. When I constrained it to Croatian, it was almost identical, but with "recall" being replaced with "reminisce." I had no idea Croatian and Bosnian were so close.):

Our cover girl Nika Mühl celebrates her birthday today, and we recall an exclusive interview with Elle in which she reveals how she got into sports and how she used her new focus on women's basketball to play with fashion, which brought her additional fame online.Nika, happy birthday!

Nika's doing fine off the court. But I'd be happier seeing back on..

Yes, totally agree - I love seeing Nika play the game, have since the first moment i saw her play freshman year ( and with curiosity raised in looking at everything I could find online of her prior to coming). She always was just all in, team first, totally open and engaged on and off the court. I so look forward to seeing her healthy and playing again knowing she is/willl work her a** off to be the best player she possibly can be. Such a beautiful personality and heart as well. No question this picture of her is absolutely gorgeous but those of us who have seen her grow each year at UConn on and off the court know that her outward beauty is only surpassed by her passion to play the game she loves - and I so look forward to see a healthy Nika live into all her dreams !
