Next year's marquee OOC home game(s)?

Mighty PC play us Plebs? Won't be too busy counting Fox dollars?
It's all about a home and home and for the time being UConn simply wont agree to that.. This means nothing and some are RPI killers but PC plays UMass, URI, BC, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine this year. Only one is missing. With both schools looking to enhance the season ticket holder experience, it's just silly they can't get this done.

I agree.

Mind over matter.

I don't mind not playing Providence, because they don't matter.

Honestly I'm more concerned that we bolster the cupcake games from perennial RPI 300+ teams to 150-200 teams. Those games absolutely destroy our RPI/SOS and kill our seeding. Bigger home games would be great of course, but a solid pack of early season games against some A10 schools, and higher-level low conference teams would really help us out. Not to mention them being much better team-building games.

There is no other way to say it - UConn dropped the ball - Benedict, KO and the guy who does the schedule need to take responsibility. These guys make a lot of money and they need to be on the ball. This isn't rocket science - perhaps Warde left us in a bad place on the schedule but really - this is the best home schedule they can come up with? - very disappointing.
Hate to say it, but I agree with Chief. A lot of people in the athletic department dropped the ball. And as a result ticket sales are going to suffer quite a bit. Is Cincy the best home game next year...? Yikes.

Our "marquee" home games vs OSU and GTown were really super marquee last year.
Despite the fact that both of those teams struggled, both games were still sold out with a lively atmosphere. Even though both teams had a down year, UConn fully intended to schedule a top 25 opponent. This Auburn game will not sell out and UConn surely did not try to schedule a top 25 opponent. It can be debated whether they wanted a top team or not for this game, but to state interest in scheduling a "high-major" as they had, ending up with Auburn is nothing but a disappointment.

Quite frankly I also agree with Chief. Honestly it seems like Benedict did his old school a favor because this does nothing for UConn.

Who said this is going to be it for UConn? How do we know they don't have another team lined up?

I am fine with Auburn - just also need an elite team or two.

UConn surely did not try to schedule a top 25 opponent.

Is it really such an abstract idea to think that Auburn will not be a top 25 team? When UConn signed OSU and Georgetown last season they presumed it would be a top 25 matchup. No shot of that with Auburn this year.

How do you know they didn't try?

Because if they valued having a big time OOC opponent at home they wouldn't have waited until two weeks ago to start looking. I'm sure they had the bar set higher than Auburn, but that's water under the bridge.

How do you KNOW they started looking 2 weeks ago? You really think that?
