You’re right.I love Castle but Clingan is the other snub. Dude is the most impactful player in the country along with Edey.
We know what he can do and what he means for the team, I just think that made it easier for them to leave him off. Had he been lights out every game it would have been impossible to ignore. It's true AK has had two little shooting funks this season but his efficiency overall is otherworldly. He's 50-40-90 on the season.
Fire for this kid next year. Has to be a preseason favorite for poy if he returns. Just like last year. Big snub!!Karaban?
lol I try not to be a ridiculous homer but I actually think this (our starting 5 vs. the rest of the all BE guys) is kind of reasonable! We basically have 4 all-conference level guys plus a unanimous ROTY/lottery pick. Plus our guys fit together like a glove, have great chemistry, and have deep knowledge of an unlimited playbook. I think it would be a good game.Guys come on lmao.
And Shabazz won conference player of the year that year lot of misinformation in this thread hahaWe were in the AAC then
That’s no reason for the Big East to have snubbed Shabazz from BEPOY. Just more disrespect and prejudice against us.We were in the AAC then
I'm pretty sure you're correct on this.I could be wrong but I believe the HM selections are not an actual vote but just the guys who received votes for 1st or 2nd team but weren't in the top 11 vote getters. So I agree Karaban absolutely deserves an HM I'm not really shocked he didn't get any votes with the 3 other guys ahead of him. It would pretty much require putting 4 UConn players on a list of 11
I guarantee that the recognition that Cole and Martin got was a big part of the recruiting pitch for Newton and Spencer.Nice piece of info to add to the recruiting pitch when transfer season rolls around.

how would he win BE player of the year in the AAC?
Whooshhow would he win BE player of the year in the AAC?
He didn't win Big East player of the year when he was in the AAC because UConn gets no respect. It's as simple as that.how would he win BE player of the year in the AAC?
Had he not dropped off so much the later part of the season I think there was a case to be made for inclusion.Solo!
That was the biggest joke that he got it over Kemba that yearHell yes and in the NCAAT. I hope he reacts like Kemba after Ben Hansborough got BE POY in 2011
No, Newton was unanimous. It is Hurley, he's still mad at him for bad defensive performances at Creighton & Seton Hall.
Just kidding!! You are not allowed to vote for your own players.
I couldn't bring myself to click Like to confirm this.Jameer Nelson won ovet Okafor I believe as well.
Add BE Conference Champions and BET Champs to that list. One down, two to go!The only thing that matters to these guys is the ring. The one they got last year, and the one they want this year.
Interesting statsI actually wonder if team performance causes certain players to be slightly overrated on EvanMiya.com, because our guys all look amazing by his numbers. Per his ratings, we have five of the top eight players in the Big East and six of the top 13. It’s ludicrous how good we’ve been.

Build it out with Diarra as the 6th Man, and the other team gets whoever wins the award if it isn't Diarra (or the next highest vote getter if it is).Newton, Spencer, Castle, Karaban, Clingan, coached by Hurley.
vs.
Kolek, Carter, Kadary, Baylor, and Kalkbrenner, coached by Holloway (or Shaka or McDermott if they want).
Seems pretty even honestly.
He's admitted there is some correlation between teammates that can overrate others in his metric, but I don't believe UConn is a good example of that. There's been a good amount of data without each other (Karaban missed a game, Castle 6, Clingan 5) and this phenomenon is usually when there's 1 star that carries teammates (like Braden Smith being high partially due to Edey). UConn has a more balanced approach in both scoring and impact.I actually wonder if team performance causes certain players to be slightly overrated on EvanMiya.com, because our guys all look amazing by his numbers. As someone has already stated, because of UConn’s dominance I’m not sure what this really shows us when comparing UConn players to those on other teams. What I find interesting, however, is the comparison of the on court value of UConn’s players. For those of us who have had real issues determining how important each of the five starters is relevant to the others, here is some data and a relevant ranking of Clingan, Castle, Newton, Spencer, Karaban. And showing why Diarra in for one of them isn’t a huge drop off.I actually wonder if team performance causes certain players to be slightly overrated on EvanMiya.com, because our guys all look amazing by his numbers.
