I teach in a prison and get a lot of students from NYC. We talk about sports a lot during downtime and overwhelmingly they follow UConn basketball. I've never had a NYC student tell me they were a fan of Syracuse, St. Johns, or Rutgers. I'm not suggesting they are die hard UConn fans, but seem to follow it much more than the other teams.

Exactly. I have seen some taxis here in NYC with the ad "Syracuse - NY's team".

Apparently the folks at SNY feel that more New Yorkers are interested in UCONN women's basketball than Syracuse men's basketball. We all know WCBB enjoys far less interest nationwide, so that's not saying much about Syracuse men's team when they are less popular in NY than UCONN women's team (at least apparently according to SNY).

Having said that it's also possible that given the new contract between SNY and UCONN women, maybe it's simply part of the contract to show the game live and no testimonial on the relative interest in the two teams in the NY market. Still, I choose to believe UCONN WCBB is more popular than Syracuse MCBB...

And to top things off, they can't even read. My post said over time.

UConn is 6-3 against Syracuse in the last decade.

Surely you remember the time UConn put up 56 points on Cuse!!! Not bad for a team without ANY football tradition.

Basically, UConn rolled the ball out there with NO tradition and STOMPED on Cuse. No wonder you guys don't want to compete on the field.
