Didn't Lyman, at 6'5", guard Shaq in the NCAA tourney in 1991? He did an awesome job.

I thought Lyman had graduated by then, but I could be wrong. The years were close, but gawd, Lyman was one of the best UConn defenders EVER . Guards or Big men, he shut them down! Definitely an all time Top 5 UConn defender! Damn, I miss him!

The one good thing that came out of the 2006 team disaster was Jeff Adrien. He produced from day one. I swear that dude punched a time clock before every game. 100% blue collar , machine workers union, Mr. Slates gravel pit , Uconn huskie - Jeff Adrien. The James Evans Sr. Of Uconn Basketball .

For the older crowd here... anyone shudder to think what Al Weston could've done had there been a 3-pt shot in the mid-70s? Those teams are known for Hanson/Whelan/Abro, but Weston lived in the corners, draining 25-footers.

Lights out shooter for Cromwell High and HC Jake Salafia. My dad coached against Weston back in the day in a state tournament game.

Randy LaVigne...scrappy player from same era.

Dan Hesford circa 1963 to 1965. Great defensive player--- will of the wisp--6-3 at best but could defend and rebound.Played along side Toby Kimball another lunchpail guy and NBA player. Lyman shut Dana Barros down in the Semis of the NIT against BCU. We played Shaq a 1-3-1 zone for almost the entire game--beat them by 15 or so.

Selvie goes without saying but he's a top 5 or 10 Husky of all-time so you don't automatically think Junkyard dog. Lyman Is was a tough guy, jack of all trades. Niels Giffey is my junkyard dog of recent memory, the kid is tough as nails and will play hard and well in any situation you put him in, Niels has become a favorite.

Donny Marshall
John Thomas
Lyman DePriest
Jake Voskuhl
Rash Jones
Kevin Freeman
Corny Thompson
THE CAPTAIN - Jim Calhoun
And Junkyard Dogs with finesse- Ricky Moore and Taliek Brown

Oh, I only wish Corny was a tougher b'tard. A lot of skill, he was smooth--little too smooth.

My family had season tickets from 1965 until 1995 - saw Corny play some tough bball - yeah he was smooth on the outside but when he got underneath with that butt as a weapon he was a monster

Saw him up close banging against some big dogs. Soft he was not.
