Hopes she's getting some big money because there's no way I'd trade 3/4th of a Stanford degree for an SMU one.
SMU aint terrible, but it's no Stanford.
Love your position in spirit, but in this case, she didn't have a choice. She's been on scholly four years and is graduating, and our team's rule is they only offer a 5th year if they can't fill all their spots - this time they could, so there wasn't one for her to come back for.

I really like this move for her and I think Barnes will rely on her experience to give her a lot of good playing time.

Thank you for the clarification. She was listed as a junior. My bad!

This is kind of ironic. Barnes couldn't keep any of her players at Arizona, but now all of her players are following her to SMU?

I'm not surprised she's getting transfers to follow her; probably more NIL.

But, it's so fast for non-Arizona transfers. Has she even been introduced formally as SMU's new coach. These transfers visit SMU yet? Or, are these players who were going to transfer to Arizona to join her before she bolted?

MD seeming like transfer U lately.

I wonder if any school/coach will ever give up (or cut back) on recruiting?
Cosches generally hate recruiting, and I’m sure it’s expensive.

An elite program can’t ignore HS elite, but maybe 2nd tier can?

I think Rick Pitino or someone on the men's side said they don't even recruit HS players now.

Possible but I would guess it’s very very hard to graduate in 3 years from Stanford
I’d actually guess the opposite since admissions are tougher, so players are all strong academically and likely have some AP credits from high school when they enroll.

Maybe it's changed, but in my day the top schools didn't take AP credits.

I think it's easier to reload if you use the transfer portal wisely. The UConn's and the South Carolina's will always get the elite high school players. The rest of the top school will have to do a combination of both. Brenda and the Terps are one of many schools to figure this out.

Didn't expect that. I was surprised she left Indiana

I really like Maryland's pickups. I missed the merkle commitment over the weekend. They really do great in the portal every year. I feel like they just need to address the point guard position.

Lots of transfer news this AM.
Several players going to SMU — at least 2?following her from AZ, 1 from Stanford, and 1 from PennSt.

One winner of the transfer portal: administrative staff. Their jobs have become pretty secure since there’s so much to do now!

Culturally, seems like a weird fit, but there are few in this business who are better at coaching bigs than Mulkey, though it does seem like Mulkey's pushed the pace in transition more at LSU than she did at Baylor, and Koval always seemed a little bit slow down the floor.

I mean if LSU got koval and heckle. They would have at least 2 years with that trio of Williams, heckle, and koval. That would be a lot of fun. They also have a lot of talent coming in. I can see it.

Koval seems like an interesting pick up to me. Seems in a similar build of a player they already have in Del Rosario, slower big body post played. Maybe more skilled I assume?
