I really like Maryland's pickups. I missed the merkle commitment over the weekend. They really do great in the portal every year. I feel like they just need to address the point guard position.

Kate Koval to LSU.

Lots of transfer news this AM.
Several players going to SMU — at least 2?following her from AZ, 1 from Stanford, and 1 from PennSt.

One winner of the transfer portal: administrative staff. Their jobs have become pretty secure since there’s so much to do now!

Culturally, seems like a weird fit, but there are few in this business who are better at coaching bigs than Mulkey, though it does seem like Mulkey's pushed the pace in transition more at LSU than she did at Baylor, and Koval always seemed a little bit slow down the floor.

I mean if LSU got koval and heckle. They would have at least 2 years with that trio of Williams, heckle, and koval. That would be a lot of fun. They also have a lot of talent coming in. I can see it.

Koval seems like an interesting pick up to me. Seems in a similar build of a player they already have in Del Rosario, slower big body post played. Maybe more skilled I assume?

Lately? Lately! Brenda basically invented the transfer portal. With the possible exception of Walz at Louisville, I can't think of anyone with more (mostly productive) inbound and outbound transfer activity than the Terps.
I think she started by churning her assistants first, enjoyed that so much she started churning her players, and the portal just increased the rate of churn..

She's doing a great job with Del Rosario. After two years, she still can't afford to put her on the floor before mop up time. Looks like Mulkey's going back to Baylorball. At least it will keep Williams fresh.

Did she push one of her existing bigs into the portal with this? Maybe not since Koval has several years of eligibility left.

Mulkey will waste her and she will be ADR 2.0

Not a big addition
lol, the player who led her to team to an unexpected NC and was probably the biggest rookie after CC in the W this year
Yeah what a waste she was.

It's interesting: at some (early) point, Freese seems to have understood churn was going to be a constant and dealt with it. '
A look at the coaching depth charts shows two coaches with listed responsibilities for recruiting (coordinator and director) and her top assistant, Karen Blair, was well versed in recruiting when coming to the Terps as well. They seemingly research, target and move incisively.
Interesting that a few hours after posting this, I saw that said Karen Blair was named GT's new Head Coach.
Of course, she may (or may not have) helped the Terps get two new transfers. And the beat goes on...
