New PAC-12 Forming

-> Now, just three seasons into its membership in Conference USA, the Patriots are on the move yet again to the Pac-12. There are several reasons for this move. First, the dynamics within C-USA are not the best right now from a baseball standpoint. Louisiana Tech, one of the league’s better baseball brands, is headed to the Sun Belt, among other changes. Second, a move to the Pac-12 aligns the Patriots with several household names in college baseball, including perennial power Oregon State, which recently reached the College World Series and has won three national titles.

The move to the Pac-12 in 2027 will see the Patriots be accompanied by Lone Star State cohort Texas State, which has spent the past few seasons in the Sun Belt Conference. It gives the Pac-12, from a baseball standpoint, a strong footprint in two populated and distinct areas of Texas.

The Patriots and Bobcats will join baseball-playing programs Fresno State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Washington State and Gonzaga, making up a more than respectable group of teams from a baseball standpoint. <-

Smart move by the PAC and DBU. Similar to the Big East grabbing Akron for men's soccer.

Now I just learned Akron is in the BE for soccer.

DBU should changer their nickname to the Dirt Bags.
That is already the nickname for California-Long Beach, another school only known (to me) for their baseball. Not that you can't have more than one team with the same mascot.

"The CW is the soon-to-be-revealed second piece of the Pac-12 Conference’s football media rights package.......The linear network will air new-world Pac-12 games in 2026-2031, joining CBS, which was previously announced as a league partner in June."

That isn’t horrible coverage in my view. 3 on CBS, 10 on CBSSN 13 on CW. Although maybe they get a couple on other networks too. New league. Boise the only “national” brand. The rest will be streaming I imagine. Everybody has streaming games today. Heck the NFL streams games. Better than I was expecting. I haven’t seen a payout yet. But getting games on CBS is a big deal.

Was eating lunch and stumbled upon this gem of a post concerning a revised new PAC that includes us. Here a pic that was included in the post.

Sooo, ummm, hmmm, are they sniffing glue!??! Why would Cal and Wake Forest leave the $$$ from the all cretins crew unless they get booted, and pairing us back up with 4 of our former AAC brethren...how how many ways can I set this idea on fire? To their credit, they realize that UConn has brand power and won't dilute the payout, but this configuration is nuts. That said, a reshaping of select teams from the PAC, Big12, all cretins crew, and us would make a heck of a P3...

Throw the three Military Academies in there (Army, Navy, Air Force) and convince Marquette, Creighton and Villanova to join and I would be interested. That would basically create a P5 dynamic because that conference with the additions I mentioned is arguably stronger overall than the ACC, especially if UNC, Florida State and Clemson are on their way out.

I really want Football to have a conference. I would also be happy staying in the Big East and getting a football only invite into any of the G5 conferences that has a very easy out in case a P4 invite presents itself.
