The white one on the right should be THE logo! That is perfect! Just needs a few touch ups around the eyes and near the ears. Definitely email that to President Herbst.

I actually think that's the best thing. The all-white costume got so dirty so quickly leading to an unnecessary amount of cleaning and wearing out the costume faster than it should. At times, our costumed mascot looked like it was from a thrift store it was so worn. Of course, during the big championship games and what not they unveiled a cleaner looking one...but some of those football games...yeah...that Husky saw a lot.

I don't remember where I heard it, but I am pretty sure part of the redesign was a new costume.

Could not agree more! All denim husky will really wear much better! Honestly costume durability is so far down on my list priorities as to be non-existent.

Penfield...after studying both of these logos very closely I have come to the conclusion that you are spot on with the white husky logo. It represents UCONN plain and simple. why the powers that be think otherwise is beyond my comprehension. We have to rise up and be counted. It's our survival at stake. GO WHITE HUSKY.

If you look at this picture, the UCONN name underneath is blue, making the husky less prominent, but the white husky really stands out from the lettering in my mind.

That would be impossible because we have had two versions of basically the same logo since 1980.

If you go back further we had 3 all white huskies before the 80s.

The husky from 1959 looks like a grizzly that lunched on some bad tasting human.

And I guarentee you that an even more miniscule number know that the current logo is a samoyed.

I didn't understand what the whole hoopla was all about, but now I understand. I'm not from CT and arrived in the Nutmeg State in 1987. I do have an appreciation for tradition and we should not sell our souls to Nike.

Now I didn't realize that our logo is a Samoyed. In fact, I didn't even know what a Samoyed looked like, but when I looked it up on Google there's no question that our Logo and I'm assuming both the real dog and dog suit are Samoyed and Samoyed fashioned.

I like the new Logo, but now seeing the modified mostly white one, you have me sold. I hope the university is not locked into the other one and will consider the mostly whilte one, sticking with the long standing tradition of Jonathan.

I prefer the Penfield version, but the more I look at it the more it starts to look a little like a Polar Bear. With that said the more I look at the new logo, the less I like it. It just doesn't scream UConn, but maybe it will grow on me. I'm still leaning toward a mostly white logo. I think the outlining around the eyes on the above white one makes it look less Polar Bear, but I'm not crazy about the two dots at the top of the head. Let's see some more modified designs. It's probably all for not, since I'm guessing whatever was designed is probably a done deal with merchandise already being produced, but who knows. Maybe the Administration will take fan feedback into account and make some revisions.

I did a time-wasting thing last fall. I read a long 7 or 8 page story of Reebok's launch of the Buffalo slug. There was no market testing. It ran through several other examples of failed logos. These things are kept under wraps for a reason. Because they don't want blowback unless the resistance is high (as in the Buffalo case and a few others). It may turn into that at Oregon State. But the new UConn design is actually pretty nice and much better than I imagined it would be.

But I also suspect that it will see little acceptance and will ultimately end up like several other lousy logos...it will quietly be shelved in a relatively short time. The forward looking Eagle-Duck that BC had comes to mind. They quietly shelved it for the flying eagle after a couple of years. the other possiblity is that the Husky fades into oblivion to be replaced by UCONN on virtually everything. Pitt did this with the panther, You never see the UCLA Bruin or the Michigan wolverine. In this case, unlike UCLA or Pitt, it is a way to get rid of a logo nobody particularly likes without admitting you screwed up. I think that's the modus operandi of the current administration. They are doing good things on the academic front,and they want UCONN to be the name that's recognized there, but they are almost entirely clueless when it comes to athletics.

I like how you keep saying nobody likes it, when there are plenty of examples of posters and media articles liking it.

Can that value be rebuilt? Yes, but it will require time and success at the level to which we've become accustomed. Entering the AAC mid major era, this was an unnecessary risk with little upside. I'd like someone to explain it.

All excellent points. One point I'd make. the front view looks cliparty becuase it essentailly is clipart form Nike's collection. Someone typed "huskies/wolves" into a find file and the outline came up. They added a dash of color, a toupee, and viola, Donald the new Husky was born.
