The real one looks a lot better than yours, IMO. I don't know where you get this illusion that all huskies are all white either.

I like the new logo and was mixed about whether Penfield's whiter one was better. Now there is no question in my mind that the official one chosen by the school is better.

Most people here didn't want KO either. Some still don't. F 'em. Bring on the new era.

Someone asked me to start a separate thread for this.

In my opinion the husky logo needs to be an all white husky. This is what made our husky unique. This is what made the UCONN Husky different from all the other huskies out there.

There are a lot of changes coming for our university and our teams over the next couple months. New Conference, new rivals, and now a new husky logo. Let's keep at least a little tradition - the all white husky.

I know not everyone will agree with me but if you do let your opinion be heard.

My solution: Take a cue from Oregon & their uniforms of many color combinations. Use the white logo on the blue uniforms (home for football & hockey, visitors for hoops) & the blue logo on the white unis (visitors for football & hockey, home for hoops). Honestly, now that my UConn apparrel has become "vintage or retro", my biggest concern is where am I getting the coin to buy all new UConn golf & tee shirts, sweatshirts, gym shorts, etc. Damn, wish that I was getting a refund from the I.R.S.

Stupid statement. You're conveniently forgetting about the fact that EVERY OTHER logo we've had is of an all-white husky. The samoyed thing is a copout.

Please show me a Uconn logo in the last 20 years that was an all white husky. We had an all white Samoyed as pointed out in a bunch of previous posts. I'm not suggesting it wasn't all white, just that it wasn't a husky. Mascot? Yes. Logo? No

Change to an actual husky which, for the record, looks absolutely nothing like the other husky logos I've seen. Perhaps they are out there but not at North eastern, UW, NM and the couple of others on that folks on this board have referenced.

That would be impossible because we have had two versions of basically the same logo since 1980.

If you go back further we had 3 all white huskies before the 80s.

Understood. However, i was responding to pepband99 suggestion that its ALWAYS been an all white husky which, as you pointed out, hasn't been true for 40 years. Why wasnt he complaining then?

I think you are just being too technical.

According to that article, was the logo used from 1980 - 2013 based on a Samoyed? Yes, I will give you that.

However, the artists intention was for it to depict a Husky. The team was still called the Huskies. Its not like we changed our name to the UCONN Sammies for 30 years. The fact that the artist based the drawing on his pet Samoyed does not negate that fact that it was used to represent the UCONN Huskies for 30 years.

Jonathan the real live husky dog has been an all white siberian husky since 1936.
Jonathan the costumed mascot has been an all white husky since 1963.
The logo depicting Jonathan has been a white dog of some sort since 1959. Why change it now?

Internally, everyone has to support the new design. Geno, KO, everyone whether they think it's the best one or.not. Changing it now would be a huge embarrassment but only for a few minutes.

If enough people want a white husky, they will eventually crack. It's practically a cliche how this works.

I'm referring to the husky itself rather than the stylization. I can't think of any other school with an all-white husky.

Do a report on how the all white husky is UConn while the blue toupee husky one is Washington and Northeastern...put it up for a vote right next to the Calhoun Fund on the main page...although Fishy probably won't go for this because he's more into the blue toupee.

Reread what I said. You're misquoting me.

To be simpler: Every other logo we've had but the "samoyed" has been a white husky. The "samoyed" was a white husky, at least in theory. This one isn't.
