New Commit: Rrezon Elezay

I’m not gonna go back and find the posts, but there was lots of mocking about how we wanted all league caliber third stringers and how impossible it would be to find a 7 footer to bench sit.

You wanna pretend these things weren’t said on repeat for months? Fine. But I know people remember.

Reasonable arguments could be had about Karaban and Koroma playing over this theoretical development center that we now have, we’ll continue to disagree about who should play in the event of a long term injury. That’s not what I’m bemoaning here.
You thinking he’ll actually have any consequence on the season was always what was mocked. No one advocated for not taking a 3rd string center. The point was it’s inconsequential

Anybody else way overreacting to a quick highlight reel? I expected the guy to be far slower and to look like he barely understood the game. This guy is a baller, and even just being there in practice this year I’m highly on board with believing he can contribute the year after.
This post is confusing. Huh?

How does this work for 2025-26 - both recruits would mean 16 players which is above 15.

One needs to be a redshirt else so long to Diaby.
Does anyone know what the "official" roster rules are? Seems like there has been a lot of speculation but not a ton of certainty as to how exactly it's going to work. Would red-shirting even make a difference? Redshirts have always counted against the scholarship limit in the past, so not sure why they wouldn't count against a roster limit.

Diaby was not on scholarship last season, he was a walk-on. And he's not listed on this year's roster so I guess he's gone already.

There are now 15 scholarship players on the roster.

Nobody said it was impossible, just that if they did find someone he would be behind double K.

Quick feet and soft hands. Moves well to get open on the baseline/in the paint. Eric and Rrezon will keep Tarris sharp. Stacked at the 5
Positioning looks good too…clearly has been well coached on fundamentals

Although, I agree that this won’t change our season trajectory.

But that does not mean it is unlike chicken soup. Because this cannot hurt. Now at least we have two bodies to go against Tarris in practice. I think this probably helps Reibe more than anyone else.

He is 7’2” maybe….looks like he does not have much of a vertical but he does move ok if he is really7’2”. He has some basketball ability he appears to have some level of body control while airborne.

Again I know it is a highlight reel but man in the 80’s if a guy that big moved this well it was news.

one of the better follows for international scouting, these are practice bodies similar to the signings before the 2022-2023 season

I'm not buying this dismissal of the big guy.

How many young bigs are as coordinated and can make quick moves inside? Sure he needs to add a lot of strength, but based on how he scores inside on the PNR and inside moves, plus his coordination and shot blocking, he could be a special player once he becomes stronger.

Give him a year or two in the weight room to get over 200 pounds (maybe even 230) and he could be very good.

15 scholarships

He will be a star.
Dude, I love this post. Prompted by humor or seriousness, I'm not sure, but either way. Rrezon is definitely a player that needs to develop, but he is 7'2, has hops, good feet, good hands, some timing on blocks, a nice stroke at the foul line, and he is just 18. Now he is in one of the best programs in the world to learn and grow his game. Hurley and staff must love this opportunity, this challenge. The rewards could be tremendous.

Hard to say what Rrezon will become while in Storrs but there certainly are some intriguing components to his game via the eye test. Safe to say he is probably still growing and will be capable of gaining weight/strength in our SnC program. How soon we forget that it took Clingan awhile to grow into his body at UConn and gain conditioning and strength to expand his game and PT. Even in the pros DC is still working up to more minutes on the floor based on improving his conditioning(per his coaches).

Still like the depth we have at the 5- Tarris is leading the way.

Clingan was dominant from day 1 and the most must have recruit of Hurley's career. Think Yarin Hasson, not Donovan Clingan.

It's not 15 scholarships, it's 15 total players including scholarship players and walk ons

The new rule is 15 total roster spots, of which every single one can be a scholarship. So yes, it is 15 scholarships.
