Yep, and with the class coming in I think there will be little doubt about next year.On the bright side the FF streak is still alive

An asterisk won't cure the ridiculousness.
Well, they did it in football before changing to the current semi-final and finals format. BUT... I agree - no way to award it.Not probably, definitely. There is no way they award a paper championship based on polls.

It's too bad for the seniors and from the top teams who were all going to vie for the NC. Great players like Dangerfield, Ionescu, Sabally, Hebard, Charles, etc. will never have a chance to win a NC. The SC seniors got their NC 3 years ago and Baylor's got theirs last year.
Not a way any player wants to see their season end, but for those who have their careers ending, it's got to be particularly tough.
Who's the #1 team in Massey? Is 32-1 with two wins over #1 seeds, one win over a #2 seed , highest RPI and #1 ranking in both polls really "ridiculousness?"
Not saying it's a legitimate NC, just an asterix NC
Who's the #1 team in Massey?
Who's the only team that has 5 road wins over other top-16 teams?
SC had a very home-heavy schedule.
Then consider the fact that SC has had a pesky habit, in all years but one, of pooping their brithces in the NCAA tournament, it's a big fat no.
Not with an asterisk, and much less with an asterix, whatever that is.
Does it matter?!So how does NCAA decide the NC? By polls, AP, Coaches or just cancel this year's NC?
No, the point is there is no national champion. It's not even like South Carolina went undefeated. If this were UConn 2016 or Tennessee 1998 there might be an argument. But not for a team who lost by 15 to Indiana, hid out at home for almost all their important games, and barely squeaked by Temple.AP/Coaches/RPI National Champions.
Oregon can claim the Massey. Good for them. Well deserved.
Being retired, the only thing this does to me is I will have more Honey-do list items to be completed.Wow, I never expected to have our season end on March 12th! Bummer.
Plus side - assuming I'm at work I should be at least 10% more productive for the rest of March!
Massey has a lot more credibility than the RPI, AP or coaches poll. But just with my eye test, Oregon would kick SC's butts right now. Hebard and Sabally would eat Boston alive, and then Chavez, Boley and Ionescu would rain 3's down on the rest of the cocks til they cried for mercy.AP/Coaches/RPI National Champions.

Sabally doesn't want to come back.I think I feel the worst for Ionescu. Baylor and South Carolina have won theirs, but this was looking (to me, anyway) like it could be Oregon’s year. I do wonder if they allow Sabally to come back (if she wants). But it is the NCAA, after all, so who can guess.
The powers that be are working to isolate people for as long as possible. Even non-essential medical clinics are taking a break. This is unfortunate but it would have been unconscionable to play the tournament. Infectious disease specialists are predicting up to 150 million cases in the US and a worst case scenario of 1 million deaths. If canceling the tournament will save some lives the NCAA had no choice.
Good question Kaizen. They will probably explore all possibilities and, decide which one will bring in the most money and base their decision on that. I don't see how you could do it. I know the CIAC won't be doing any declaring other than perhaps league championships. So how does NCAA decide the NC? By polls, AP, Coaches or just cancel this year's NC?
This is going to hurt Vegas when it comes to the gaming and related industries. March Madness is second to the Super Bowl when it comes to Sports betting.
They will just extend cirque du soleil for two more weeks.
Sure. And I'm sure that Kim and Geno will accompany them up to the University of Oregon to present the trophy. The University of South Carolina National Championship*
Nothing that an asterix won't cure.
Ah, come on Plebe, don't you want to put a smile on Dawn's faceAn asterisk won't cure the ridiculousness.
Did they "hide" at home or is that the way their schedule played out?No, the point is there is no national champion. It's not even like South Carolina went undefeated. Sorry. Thanks for playing.
