NCAA Transfer Portal - The process

Pitt LB Elias Reynolds is looking to play elsewhere for his final year of eligibility. He's a one time UConn recruit. Sounds like a kid that could help us out at the 2nd level on D in 2020. Would thing he'd be ideal for what we need at the position NOW along side DJ & Jackson. Toughness

Miami (FL) TE
Evidence Njoku
seems he has entered the transfer portal as well...
Corey's following him...
NJ kid (I'm thinking he's related to Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku - little brother???)
This would be a pleasant addition to our TE depth over the next few years... In fact, whenever he's eligible he may very well come in starting immediately for us. We'd be an absolute perfect landing spot for this young man.

Saw this last night.... Hard to get excited about any portal activity unless you see immediate follow back on twitter.

@ktuck911 Here's a portal kid with talent that we actually recruited a few years back. This one has some viability.

Scarlet Nation has confirmed with sources that Rutgers sophomore wide receiver/tight end Daevon Robinson has entered the transfer portal. Scarlet Nation has also learned that the decision was partially impacted by Sunday’s news that Rutgers and Greg Schiano were no longer in talks to reach a deal for him to be the next head football coach.

Robinson has played in every game this season and will have three years to play two moving forward. He started four games as a true freshman and has six catches this season.

Maine's Ferguson enters the portal looking for a chance at FBS. Pro style Grad transfer with one year of eligibility. Lead them to the FCS playoffs last year.

I truly hope we can make some serious waves in getting a few more IMPACT kids thru the portal We currently have DJ Morgan (maybe one more on offense.. jury's still out, but I'm sure a lot of doubt might be set in now, unfortunately).. We need more.. LB depth is still paramount for us... along with OL, TE, DT depth help... We gotta start winning a few more battles up front... no more excuses in the trenches...

Kids looking for PT who were perhaps buried on depth charts at big time programs like ND maybe our ticket. Quite franky, even though he was knicked up every game it seemed, Morgan provided better LB play all year than anyone we've had the last 2 years. He wasn't great but he was certainly serviceable. Ardell Brown looked decent but was hobbled all year.

You simply have to work this angle just as hard as your HS recruiting. Illinois ... made a big jump & 75% of the kids that are memorable to me on that playing field for them were GRTransfers or Transfers.

Exactly bro! Kids buried on depth charts at Big Time programs... That should be our target... Going the D2 route , at this phase of our rebuild, terrible idea... If we were a more stable football team, and were a few players off (unfortunately, we're wayyyy more than that off) it would've probably worked out better, especially for a kid like Ardell Brown (who showed the flashes you want to see in an impact player)....

Hoping some of these kids see the opportunity.. There are plenty out there right now for us to sift through... Seeing what DJ Morgan has done for us I think it's pretty CLEAR....

IF we don't then we're gonna be disappointed next year (again)... It's inexusable for us not to work this angle as hard as we can.. all the while, recruiting for the future (2 to 3 years down the road)..

You can see some schools positioning themselves for the Portal. How? Their recruiting classes seem smaller than expected for this time of year. For example, SMU has 11 commits and Houston has 8 commits. Last year, SMU took in 16 transfers and Houston took in 12. It also seems like P5 kids from the Dallas and Houston area look to go home when they are transferring.

SMU and Sonny Dykes seem to be taking full advantage of transfers and JUCOs. It looks like they have 24 transfers and 10 JUCOs on the roster which helps explain their success this year. Transfers/JUCOs make up 5 offensive starters and 2 backups, 6 defensive starters and 6 backups, and the starting kicker, kick off specialist, and punter.

The SMU strategy would not fly at UConn, but we should take more than we currently do.

It’s pretty incredible

How do you manage the roster to leave that much space for 85 scholarships. Did he run a bunch off?

Been waiting for this one... Edsall made a big push for Blackshear the first time around a couple years ago. This evening he and Corey have jumped on the new opportunity now that he is in the portal. I think Blackshear is a great player stuck on a an over powered roster.

It should fly.

Talk about a kid w/ commitment issues...
