It's getting away from Creighton. Down 10 with 7 & change left.

He is not the most skilled player, but I love watching Dylan Caldwell. He is the emotional heartbeat for this Auburn. It's even more fun seeing him in person when I was in Maui. You see all his funny reactions up close.

I will complain about the seeding again. Creighton had a great season and most of their early losses were with Kalkbrenner playing hurt. They should have been a 6 or 7 over some of the "good losses" teams. They should not have faced a team this good in the second round.

The big east was wrecked by the BE front office and it's idea of how basketball is played in the year 2025.

I hope the Big East haters all find a P2 team to root for next year so I don't have to read their word vomit.

I'm torn. I want Cherington to win, but we have a better chance beating Auburn.

Creighton is the only other team (UConn 1st) I immediately look for bracket placement, especially the last 2 Tournaments. Just saying they are the only team in the Nation, I fear.
Are you looking ahead to a potential final four matchup? I'm just wondering why it matters if we'd be better off facing Creighton or Auburn.

I'm not opposed to admitting when I am wrong and I will admit that I both underrated Auburn's abilities and overrated the amount of difficulty Kalkbrenner would give Auburn

Very dry tourny so far, missing monumental upsets and buzzer beaters.

The only buzzer beater was the first game of the First Four. Can't remember a 1st weekend that had so little drama.

We may be watching the end of college sports as we have known it for the last 30-40 years.
Yes. And even managers like Amir from McNeese are getting NIL. He also has a three person security team. He is expected to follow Wade to NC State as well. What a wacky world.

The SEC is still overrated. But St. Johns was also way overrated. Both can be true. St. John’s benefited so greatly from the BE refs that it was never going to work for them in the tourney. Hope that wakes up the BE - we know they are trying to hurt UConn but the way to do that is not to have biased reffing all season. That just sets the other teams up for failure in the tourney.
Right, we “know” the Big East is trying to hurt the most prominent program in the conference.
Do we also “know” that the moon landing was faked?

I would be interested in what went down with Pettiford's recruitment. Hurley grew up with his dad and is tight with him.

I'm confident we can beat Auburn, I'm never confident we can beat Creighton. Last 2 years I felt they were the only team who could stop us in the Tourney.

Watching Auburn beat the piss out of Creighton on national TV to end the Kalkbrenner and Ashworth era

There's a very real chance now that every team in the Sweet 16 will be from the B1G, SEC and Big 12, plus/minus Duke. That's an ill wind as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah, they received 30 bids and all high quality teams so it makes sense. I think SJU at a 2 seed was the only outsider in the top 16.

In a 1-and-1 situation, foul any player that is under an 80% FT shooter. Don't let them run the clock out.

Turns out that being unable to shoot the basketball makes it hard to win the basketball tournament
Yes, it's a very unlikely path for winning 6 games in a row over 3 consecutive weekends, but they were 4-1 in the post-season. SJU tied our regular season winning-record record before winning the tournament. We never ran into Pitt or Louisville in the NCAAs when they were our toughest foes. I was at the South Regional Finals in 2023 and appreciated SDSU eliminating Creighton from the Final Four. Given that the Committee spread the Big East's 5 bids across 3 regions, I'm essentially forced to be pleased for UConn that St.John's will not be in our path.

I can hardly remember a world without Kalkbrenner in a Creighton uniform. Gonna be strange from here on out.

Damn I wanted Creighton to advance, but this game went about the way I thought it would. Well done, Auburn.
