NCAA Tournament, Rd 3 - Thursday

Acuff is going to need to score 40
Arkansas has no chance - AZ going to just beat them up.

Houston having 0 pts against Illinois 4:30 in is wild.

If we have an all B10 F4, I'm going to roll over. Then we'll know the world is changing fast.

The Houston/Illinois game is F4 quality in matchup. Unique styles, both load of talent.

Eh. Some of that is bullspit. They made sure only one BE team could make it. There’s a world where UConn and St John’s made the final 4.

Swain needed to jump. That's all. Simply jump. If he jumped, the slightest contact would have sent him flying and the ref and everyone watching would make the connection (that a push was the cause). IMHO.
Exactly. Swain just let himself get bullied under the basket. Was it a foul? Maybe, probably, but you need to stand your ground and not be passive about your box out and rebound.

no one’s a shot blocka against awaka

Sorry.
Waka waka. How they have that guy coming off the bench is ridiculous.

AZ going as planned - Ark plays no defense and has nothing inside. Anyone picking Arkansas was totally riding the high of Acuff without looking at any of the match ups, trying to be different. I'd expect AZ to go up by 20+ at some point and then Ark back doors it to 12-13.

If it ends up being Uconn/StJ, we can definitely start complaining, but also looking forward to game 4. I wonder how many x in CBB history two teams have played each other 4x. It can't be many. StJ/Gtown in 85.

The scoring in this Illinois/Houston game is anemic. This thing is going to be like 24-22 at the half at this rate.

Zona up by double digits, 2-3 from deep, scoring primarily driving or passing it into the paint. Hogs' D very porous.

Hogs 2-11 from 3, while scoring well inside driving it at the basket. Just played really dumb early putting them in an early hole. They've stopped jacking up 3s, but the difference in the outcome might be digging that early hole.

Illinois just botched their defensive possession before halftime with 3 fouls to give. They give the 3 fouls only to give up a 3 to end the half. So they give up the points and give an additional foul to 3 different players.

No ref is making that call against anybody because if some reason he is wrong, then he will be crucified. That's why it's smart on a last play, like that, to try to get every advantage.

Right. Breeding called a phantom foul at the buzzer on a three in a final four game.

Poorly played - what is the point in the fouling only to leave like 4-5 seconds. Need to space them to make the last shot uncomfortable.

Shockingly low scoring. Meanwhile AZ game is more than doubling it in points. Every basket matters.

Cal continues to deploy an undisciplined and simple offense. He actually has the athletes, finishers and ferocious offensive rebounders to do a lot of damage at the rim. But he simply lets his players do whatever they want, that simply has the same outcome year after year, early exits, quick NBA defections, reload, repeat the cycle. It just doesn't work.

Still a lot of time left in this game, but they just don't have the discipline to play smart on the offensive end, nor the ability to defend on the other end of the floor against a Uber-talented offensive Zona team.

Cal is a better version of Ollie. My super talented dude can break down your guy one on one and create a mismatch or score. It’s classic 90s-00s ISO basketball. He hasn’t really evolved to embrace motion and passing.

Completely different than the Zona - Hogs game where they were both attacking the paint after Arkansas stared 3 happy, Houston and Illinois were jacking up 3s and both missing most of them.

Illinois finally has committed to driving it into the paint and having some success.

Ugly game, though maybe things will open up in the second half.

The Big 12 should be so proud. Houston playing in their home city and I don't even think they have the most fans there.

Both Zona and Ark love to attack the basket. The difference is, Zona does it so much better.

Ark's best offense is the missed shot. Some ferocious put-backs in this game, but not a winning formula.
