Committee members are not allowed to be in the room when their team is discussed. That puts my mind at ease! Geesh. I leave the room. I come back and my team has the best possible scenario awarded. Either they are deemed to be a tourney worthy team after all and the seeding, region, opponent is as good as can be expected. “OMG. That’s what was decided for the team I’m associated with? How lucky for me” I wonder who had a say in this? Now you leave the room and I’ll be discussing your team’s fate (Wink wink).

It’s easy to say UNC would have been out if Memphis lost. I would like to know that before Memphis plays. It’s easy to just say that afterwards. There was no way we had a different reason to get UNC in if Memphis lost. And there there are different angles to determine who should be in. Just pick the one that can explain why a team made it over another. It’s quad one wins this year but next year it’s who you scheduled and then how you strong you finished and another year it’s the NET ranking that is most important.

Yup, completely cynical about the committee. Too much is at stake to be fair. They’ll do as much as they can for the favored programs. Of course I don’t have proof but that’s human nature especially when the prestige and financial rewards can be so lucrative
 
I really want to know why any school's out of conference schedule for this season means anything at this point. It's not like we can convince the committee to reseed the tournament.

Are you talking about how someone couldn't understand how we could be seeded below Marquette and claimed our OOC wins were better, so then people listed Marquette's OOC wins to illustrate that wasn't true?

Marquette also did not lose to the likes of Colorado, Dayton and Seton Hall.

So, offering views on my team that oppose your views qualifies as "hate"? Methinks you have your head where it should not be.

Within the majors, I still think there is some competitive balance.

The mid-majors used to have a big selling point for second tier talent because they had playing time and shots for what would otherwise be a 7th or 8th player in a mid tier major conference rotation. Pre-Transfer Portal, a 2* that developed at a MAC or MVC school would not bother to transfer because moving up was a huge risk if the player had to sit and then hope that he was not recruited over at a bigger school in the next year and a half. There were some ways for a good mid-major coach to put a squad together and make a run. Now, all that matters is money. The A10 may be able to compete financially for a 10th or 11th guy on a major conference roster, but that is about it. MAC schools and below have basically no selling point other than the coaches may be smart and nicer. Maybe a school like UCSD can compete on the quality of the education, but I am reaching here.

You are seeing this in the preseason. There are fewer deep upsets in December than there have been in the past, and when it happens, it is usually one program in a conference, like Seton Hall this year, that is having a problem of some kind. Seton Hall basically has an A10 roster, which is how it lost games to the A10.

I'm talking about someone wasting the amount of time and energy people are wasting on this. At this point what difference does it make?

We'll see if you're right after the next few weeks, but it may be the league got off to a great start, feasted on the ACC, building a great resume' and had the carryover effect keep them highly rated the whole year while they played each other.

I don’t think Florida is thrilled with a potential second round matchup and I don’t blame them. As a bystander I don’t understand why Solo Ball isn’t more assertive and a major focus of the offense. Independent panel will not work. How can we think the selection committee is a valid entity. Cunningham the guy running the thing got a bonus when UNC made the tournament.

There is no way to create a bigger conflict of interest than that there scenario.

Wow I wondered how UNC got in now we know.

This should end all debate about how corrupt the NCAA has become. This is a clear smoking gun. Something needs to change or no credibility will be left.
 
None of UNC, SDSU, Texas, Vanderbilt or Xavier deserved a bid. Neither did Ohio State, Boise, Indiana or West Virginia. This was a year where the last few bids went to the least undeserving teams. West Virginia needs to stop being so whiny.
