NCAA selection thread

Anybody who still thinks there is a P5, last year should have cleared that up. The Big East is viewed roughly like the MVC now. There is a P4 and nobody else needs to apply to their tournament. They threatened to do their own thing and the NCAA listened.
So what is the ACC viewed as? They only got 22% of their teams in. The only reason the Big East didn’t get six in was because Nova blew it in the non-conference. The reason the league got a 7,8, and 9 seed was due to poor performance from the top 4 teams in the league OOC.

Only compaison I can make is to UConn in 2011 when the Big East was considered the best conference ever that season. UConn 2011 we beat 9 ranked teams before the tournament, won the conference tournament and finished 26-9 to get a 3 seed. Kentucky beat 8 ranked teams but only beat 1 team in the conference tournament and finished 22-11 to get a 3 seed.
They were a 4.

Every BE team with at least 21 wins in the regular season since realignment has made the field.

I expect the field to expand to 76 next year, and that number to decrease to 20 wins going forward.

He's having some fun, I'm OK with that. Remember he's talking to one of the most frustrated fan bases in the country, horrible for nearly 25 years and still with no national titles. Still have less Big East titles than us despite spotting them the 1980s and going to another conference for 7 years

For New Yorkers, that's hard to take.

Let them have some fun

Here's my first stab at the bracket. Feels a little chalky and might make some adjustments...

This might be the worst resume I've ever seen for a tournament team. People complaining about North Carolina should look at Texas. Simply awful. Bad OOC (they did barely squeak out a win over juggernaut Syracuse) then proceeded to do almost nothing but lose in conference.

ACC had some interesting placements. Louisville as an 8 and Clemson as a 5 were both vastly underrated compared to their AP poll rank, though I don’t disagree with it. But UNC as the last team in when the chair is the UNC AD raises some eyebrows. Almost as if the ACC used all their leverage for UNC and said it screw it to the other ACC teams. They that being said, not many deserving teams on the other side of the bubble.

SEC and Big Ten both vastly overrated in terms of seeding. Cant wait to plow through both these leagues.

I don't hate our match up with Oklahoma, but we might as well not take the floor against Florida. That will be a slaughter
First they have to win against OK.

Loser comment about game vs Florida. Play your best and see what happens.

I am having a tough time picking any upsets. I think NIL has made the 5 majors (and maybe Memphis and Gonzaga) so much better than everyone else, that there will not be nearly as much "madness" as there has been in the past.

Tourney doesn't get good until the 3rd or 4th round. The people who like the first weekend are the same people who don't watch football until the Super Bowl. Give me the big teams playing each other
It sounds like YOU are the kind of person who waits until they decide “now the play is good” to start watching!

They really need to lose the directional aspect to naming these Regions. What, there's less than half of the teams in the East are in the eastern timezone, no?
Much better: go back to regional conferences. Think of the amount of jet fuel wasted on these crazy continent spanning conferences.

And, I counted on it, and bet the family’s entire wealth on your word, and now we are homeless
How could I imagine that an OU team that went 6-12 in conference would (a) get in and (b) be a 9 seed. I don't think I've ever seen anything as ridiculous as the SEC getting 14 teams in. Good for UConn except being in Florida's bracket.

100% with you on this take - I think the further the portal landscape evolves the more chalk we'll be seeing, less upsets. Talent is all being funneled to the top, so not sure how mid majors even have a chance going forward. This feels like a very, very chalky draw. It's hard for me to even see how anyone outside the top 2 seeds gets into the F4. It's going to happen, but there are not many compelling teams outside of the 2 line. ISU was a team, but they're down their best player and have looked bad the last month. I have a couple teams I've liked, but one is down a man.

Creighton fan here. I like popping in here because there’s actually quite a few ball knowers for being a message board. I like seeing the Big East show out once we get to tourney time. I don’t think Florida is thrilled with a potential second round matchup and I don’t blame them. As a bystander I don’t understand why Solo Ball isn’t more assertive and a major focus of the offense. That dude terrifies me shooting the basketball. Also seems obvious Tarris Reed > Samson. Anyways GL.

They beat 5 ranked teams, UNC beat 1.

Who did they lose to? How often? By how much? UNC didn't have many chances to beat ranked teams.

I continue to think we focus too much on a few good wins and not enough on how often you win and how often you lose. Seton Hall wasn't good because they beat UConn.

Should just let AI pick the teams based on preset metrics and let the chips fall where they may.

Saying Bubba was out of the room when any UNC discussions went on is as irrelevant as when my kid’s hockey team ran evaluations by ‘outside evaluators’ even though the teams were pretty much picked behind closed doors the week before.

Can somebody explain to me how Marquette is a seven seed and UConn a eight. UConn finished ahead of Marquette 14-6 to 13-7 in the BE standings UConn swept Marquette and had better out of conference wins Texas,,Baylor and Gonzaga who are all in the field.

We did not have close to better out of conference wins. Did you even look at Marquette's schedule? They also don't look at conference record.
