Very close to my predicted rankings. :)

The weirdness of the super conferences is that you end up with 3 teams in the Birmingham 4 region.

In this scenario UConn’s bracket would play their regional games on Sat/Mon.

It’s a travesty IMHO that a team tied for the most quad 1 wins (SC) got moved to a 2 seed based on 1 game.

Kind of, but it was a blow out at home. Might never have happened like that before, but my memory is suspect.
Although Vegas agrees with you.

There is a lot of squishy-ness in the seeding process. As I said in my previous thread, seeds are what the Committee want them to be, it’s not all that clear cut as some seem to feel

Uh yes I’m familiar with the seeding process.

There are just 4 teams with more than 6 quad 1 wins, and SC has 11.

Ok maybe not a travesty but that’s pretty tough. That resume is very strong.

Don't take it so seriously, we've all seen the ncaa committees, in other sports as well, do some crazy things.:D

Note in their tweet, suddenly the #1 criteria was - bad losses.

This all still has a chance to self-correct. Kentucky behind strong rebounding and good shooting, took out some frustration on Tenn. That lines up with your pick.

If U$C loses to UCLA, and SC wins their conf tourney, SC may claw back to #1 seed.

UConn lurks at a nice spot there at #6:).

It’s an alphabetical list
Yep, I was joking...it just seemed to be the best explanation for the South Carolina demotion.

We need to find a criteria that starts with A. Maybe 'availability of key players'.

N.D. may not be that great. Getting it handed to them once again, still four minutes to go but trailing by eight right now. Definitely seem beatable!
They did lose at home...
Notre Dame just lost to 24th ranked Florida State by 5 points.
Does this open the door for UCONN to be a #1 seed?
No because SoCar is seeded above us as a #2 seed.

For UConn, this would probably result in the Sweet 16 and Eight 8 game opponents being exactly the same as last year. I seem to recall that (repetition of prior year match-ups) is one thing that the committee says that it tries to avoid.

@Vowelguy , your viewpoint essentially elevates one criterion (Quad 1 wins) to be the dominant criterion, eclipsing all the others that are listed. Perhaps the committee is giving more weight to bad losses or to NET ranking than you think, or than they have in previous years.

There are still basketball games to be played! We will have to wait and see which teams play well in their conference tournaments, and which teams don’t. A bad loss early in a tournament is still possible by highly touted teams, and the flipside of that is strong wins by dominating teams that could push someone up the rankings in a positive direction.

UConn needs to play well themselves, and then let the cards fall as they will!
