Even in the NET Rankings UConn has played a tougher schedule than LSU has. UConn has played only 3 teams ranked out of the Top 50. They are Dayton at #209, Ball State at #98 and Butler at #130. They have played 8 teams in the 50. They are NC St #9, Maryland #39, Minn #37, UCLA #6, Kansas #43, Texas #3, North Carolina #46 and Louisville #26.
While LSU has played only 2 teams ranked in the Top 50. They are Colorado #24 and Virginia Tech #18. They have played 11 teams ranked out of the Top 50. They are Queens U #347, MS Valley St #335, Kent St #122, S. East LA #148, TX Southern #346, Niagara #288, UVA #73, Louisiana #225, McNeese St #359, Northwestern St #268 and Coppin St #285.
There should be major penalties for teams that play out of conference schedules as bad as this. Yes LSU plays in the SEC, but currently there are only 6 teams in the SEC that are rated in the Top 50, that's including LSU. While currently there are 4 in the Big East including UConn. LSU will play South Carolina #1, Miss St #35 and Florida #49 only once, while playing TX A&M #20 and Alabama #29 twice. UConn will play Creighton #19, Marquette #32 and Seton Hall #34 two times and that is not counting the Big East Tournament.
