NBA Finals: OKC v Indiana

Jalen Williams has a more complete game than SGA and he doesn’t have to push off to get his shot off.
 
Haliburton's a brilliant player, but playing hurt is a skill and he doesn't seem to have it. Seems like any sort of nic or bruise torpedoes the whole machine with him. And that's not based on this year or this series. He's had more "is he healthy?" performances than any star in the league.
 
Hali's calf is cooked, I can't see 2 days off doing much for recovery

JDUB is going to be a very special player in a couple years. This is his stepping stone moment with 40 points in the NBA Finals.
 
OKC defensive gameplan was really strong last night. How many turnovers did the Pacers have because they drove to the hoop, there were 3 guys waiting, and then they panicked and lost the ball?

The Thunder have lost back to back games two times this season. Once back in November and once at the end of the season when they had the 1 seed secured already

With Haliburton playing hurt, this one is over!
 
There was no way the ratings were going to be good this year. I am certain there are many fans like me that really only watch when there team is still in the running.

With the two mega market teams from Indy and Oklahoma City how could this have possibly been a highly watched series. Then you have the refs clearly demonstrating a favorable whistle for OKC….SGA pushes off with his off arm on every drive to the hoop. It is basically his only way of getting enough space to get his shot off. Just amazing that he never gets called. If that was most any other player it happens a few times the defender hollywoods a bit on the contact and offensive foul is called more than 50% of the time. So the player has to stop doing it to stay in the game. It is kind of disgraceful.

The only interest I have is that I have hit at least one parlay of +500 in each game of the series. Tonight it was easy just put Haliburton on the under to start and pair it with some SGA, JDub and Siakam props and boom winner.

The NBA if anything is fairly predictable. On the road big game against a good physical defense that is allowed to play physical and nursing a calf injury and boom small body Haliburton is over. Have to be honest after that BS choke gesture (which BTW if throat slashing is banned the choke gesture has to be banned) he is going to be forever on my players I love to hate list.

If a fan says they like him as a player if he did that to your team after quite possibly hitting the luckiest shot in conference finals history I would not believe that fan. I only have one name for him but won’t post it as it certainly would be moded out. Wonder what the actual make percentage for balls that bounce higher than the shot clock after hitting the rim is. Cannot be more than 10% no way.

Yes I am an un-apologetic Knicks fan and don’t see my position changing no matter how far we get from that game one loss.

The 4-seeded Pacers had a 2-1 series lead in the finals after knocking out a 60-win Cavs win earlier in the playoffs.

I’m not sure this is the year to be beating the “NBA is predictable” drum.

Are the ratings bad?

Nba is winning the week ratings wise, to take Adam Silver’s side. Outside of nfl, no mature property has maintained tv ratings.

They are down 20% year over year. Explanation is simple, Boston and Dallas are huge markets. Okc and Indiana are middling.

The nba is more like baseball in that it is a regional business these days, not national.

For all the bad the nba ratings since Jordan, Celtics were sold in 2004 for $360m to Wyc Grousebeck.

In 2025 sold for $6.1 billion.

How bad are the tv ratings. They sold their tv rights for 11 years and $76 billion until 2036.

Lastly, espn’s production value, storytelling, and general narrative sucks. They need an entirely new nba editorial staff on the tv side and need to do more news, analysis, features and not hot takes.

Players not outcome of games. I never put game winner and loser in a parlay. I just know my results this post season have been successful using that strategy.

I was under points and over assists in all of parlays that contained SGA last night. Siakam was an easy over on points since if Hali was pretty much guaranteed not to score Siakam had to increase his usage. Had JDub over points for the last two games and the Haliburton pick was a gimme as far as I was concerned.

Yes, the ratings are bad. The NBA finals ratings have stunk the last 6 finals. The NFL just had their highest ratings season in the past 9 years.

The fact that the Pacers are gonna go into luxury tax for Myles Turner is crazy. He’s been the same exact player for 10 years. So overrated, soft, and plays on stilts. Huge reason this series is where it’s at, the 5 spot is a glaring weakness for them and they should sign/draft guys who can defend and rebound at that spot
 
As I noted well upthread, TJ McConnell is now a hot topic on sports talk radio. Just today there were two long segments on him during the two short car trips I took today, the first why he didn't play more, especially in 4th qtr, as he had the hot hand. The second, whether he belongs on the Mt. Rushmore of players born and raised in Pittsburgh (it's a short list - the consensus seems to be Maurice Lucas, Billy Knight, Dick Groat, TJ McConnell).

That's more NBA content in one day than we typically get in an entire month during the NBA playoffs.

Compared to what? It’s a different world. People’s habits have changed.

Ratings are fine. It doesnt matter.
 
hopefully he holds up, playing on a strained calf is playing with fire

You gotta wear full body armor to defend SGA, guys probably gotta get an ice bath after dealing with shoulder/elbow bumps and off-hand push-offs all night
