I'm guessing everyone knows she's coming, but this is the "official" word and article on the UCONN website... It lists her accomplishments at Georgetown as well as info on her from high school, and a tidbit that her dad played hoops for Navy...

Butler completes transfer

According to John A., here is what Geno thinks about Butler....

“So I think she’s got a chance to really, really have a huge impact on our program. I told her, ‘we don’t do this.’ In 30 years I’ve been here, maybe three or four [transfers]. We don’t do this unless it’s a game changer, and she’s going to be a game-changer for us, no question about it.”

Wow..!!

Go Huskies..!!

Shame on Geno for putting pressure on her by comparing to AA Stef Dolson.

If Geno just said she'd be more of the same for us, I'd be happy.

Two "really, really's" is very high praise from the coach. :)

Time for HuskyNan to admonish Geno to cool it. One "really" is sufficient for now.
Geno is slipping in his dotage. He should've claimed this whole Butler transfer scenario was "unbelievable," but he blew his opportunity.

I wonder how she became fluent in German. Perhaps her family lived there briefly when she was a child? Fluency isn't a word one throws around after taking high school language class.

The Fairfax County, VA school system is one of the very best in the nation.

Her dad was in the Navy I assume though I don't know for how long - might have been stationed there when she was young?

Word is that UConn kids these days can get better table waiting jobs than GTown kids anyway, with anything associated with DC being in such low regard these days. Great career move for Butler. (Come to think about it, wasn't The Butler about some guy is DC who started off waiting on tables?)

Yeah, Nan, it is like Father Guido Sarducci said about "Forever and ever." "Forever" just about takes care of it.

He said if she works really hard, she has a chance to be as good as Stef. Some great incentive for her to really bust her butt and from reading about her, I think she's already proven she is one hardworking young lady. Whether his prediction comes true or not, I'm sure she'll be a heck of an asset.

I think there is probably greater understanding of the program and system for those girls who wish to transfer in to Connecticut.
As a high school recruit, you hear the expectations, and work ethic of the program at the school being considered, but you only vaguely have an idea how much work and learning is involved.

Natalie should have a better idea than a fresh recruit out of high school what will be expected and what to concentrate on to improve.
She has been called a hard worker, and that will be a plus coming into this program.

I also think it is an advantage having a full year to understand her role, where she should be on the court, and what she should do.
This also gives her a great opportunity to strengthen her defense, because in practice, there is a good chance she will be facing some of the best players in the country.

It will be exciting to hear about her progress, and to see how she grows as a player and a team mate.

One thing is for sure. With this group of girls, and the family atmosphere they display, she is going to have a lot of fun!

The bio said her dad led Navy to the elite 8 in the NCAA's. I had no idea...

I thought I heard that her dad played with David Robinson at Navy. Another DMV kid Khaila Prather who is headed to Miami her father was also on that team if I remember correctly.
