Couldn't disagree more. I'm sure people thought things broke Kansas's way when they got to play a VCU in the elite 8 game. We all thought things broke our way when we got to play George Mason in the Elite 8 game. Just because schedules may or may not break your way, you still have to go out and actually win those games. The better, tougher teams do.A lot broke UConn's way in 2011. They were in the same region as an overrated SDSU and 'Zona beat Duke in the Sweet 16. Then Florida, Kansas, and UNC failed to make it passed the Elite 8, leaving UConn as the top seed in Dallas as a 3. Seeding, draw, and upsets along the way play a bigger role in the Tournament than most care to admit.
SDSU went 34-3 and had the 3rd best RPI that year. And was basically hosting UConn.
Same for Arizona, who annihilated that Duke team you're referencing so fast that Coach K threw in the towel with 10 minutes left in the game, refusing to get out of his seat to call timeouts and drag out the slaughter.
Florida and UNC had 8 losses on the year, it's not like either of them was a 99 duke roster. I think you're lifting them up to greater heights than they deserve to be.
You don't win 5 in a row in 5 nights unless you are an incredibly tough, talented team. Why did they lose 7 of 11 prior? Who knows, they were very young and sometimes a certain something can click and a pretty good team can all of a sudden turn into a championship caliber team with the right buttons pushed and the best player in America pulling the sled.
