My hot take, don't ever draft a running back in the 1st rd.

I think at this point Shedeur is well above the round he's being drafted at talent wise. The question that I think teams are asking themselves is are they confident they can weather the "Deion will be the coach next year rumors," every time that they lose a game or the potential social media fallout if Shedeur isn't anointed the starter.

There are very few teams/coaches who have that level of confidence... and most of them (except perhaps Pittsburgh) don't have a need at QB for this year... but is the distraction worth developing Shedeur for the future; is Shedeur willing to wait quietly for his "turn" (say what you want, but I don't recall Rodgers constantly agitating to play ahead of Favre during that development timeframe). Given the public persona that he's put out there, it's probably hard to think that's the case.

The crime here is that no one has the balls to use this situation to celebrate what a good kid Cam Ward is and how he’s probably working out this morning. Instead they pander to a selfish overhyped brat.

Pardon me, but Shedeur’s the most talented QB in this year’s draft. Those teams that keep passing over Shedeur because they foresee a “distraction” and can’t get beyond his “bravado interviews” and cocky demeanor, will come to regret it. We’re also hearing about (wink wink) his lack of athleticism and “weak arm strength” As I recall, Tom Brady was another QB questioned about his “arm strength” and athleticism, still sitting there in the 6th round while teams with dumb as dirt management were picking QB’s named Giovanni Carmazzi, and Spergon Wynn!! (remember them?) Think Jaxson Dart and Dillon Gabriel!
Get out your popcorn and watch all these brilliant GM lemmings try to excuse and explain away their draft blunder after Shedeur finally gets picked. He‘s far from selfish. He’s highly committed to team and teamwork—and he’s made for the moment. Once he displays his amazing accuracy and tears up the league they’ll realize his bravado was always his greatest strength: the leadership flair that can galvanize and inspire teammates toward their best performances each week. He showed it while rejuvenating dismal Jackson State and moribund Colorado. Bottom line he’s driven to excel, and to win. There’s nothing overhyped about it. I can’t wait to watch it happen.

You could be right, however you don't know what went on in the interview process. Also Shedeur wasn't good against the best competition, is that the reason he fell this far in the draft probably not. I bet the questions were asked about his bad starts, there is speculation out there that he threw his teammates under the bus. Again this is just speculation on my part, apparently he tried to pull an Eli with other teams saying I won't play here, and he had Deion call in on FaceTime in those
meetings.

Sure thing, Coach Prime.

What a horrible take.

I don't know you, but I'm going to trust the GM, scouts and war rooms of 32 professional NFL franchises here.

It’s actually an accurate take. Now tell me just how much you trusted your 32 Pro franchises about Brady? (Bad example? Maybe, but there are lots of others.) There’s a group mentality that permeates the crowd. It takes a resolute owner and a GM with balls to take on the “circus”—but I say it’s worth it for Shedeur. Let’s see who drafts him and which of us are closer to being right.

Bingo exactly this, and this is just what we know. Apparently Daboll asked Shedeur to run a play package and he refused to do it.
Apparently? Look, NFL teams have every right to balk at drafting Shedeur for any legitimate reason but their reasons appear petty and vindictive and will ultimately prove to be misguided.

He’s closer to Jamarcus Russell than he is to Brady.

Just watching college football as a casual fan last year thought the Miami kid was great (guess NFL guys think so too) but also thought Shedeur was up there too. Looks like he played the room incorrectly by not trying to personally show out for teams. Some team is going to have the "Brady" pick or the "Johnny football" pick or somewhere in between. I still seeing NFL starter. As far as speed goes, how slow can Prime's son be?

There he goes to the Browns. Let's see how he does, hopefully this humbled him and he takes a lesson in humility. Have a qb competition with Gabriel, an aging Flacco isn't playing 17 games.

Browns now have Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. They have an absolute stranglehold on mediocre QB's.

The takes from the talking heads have been hilarious. They did get me to watch a draft I had no idea was happening.

How insane is that franchise. Sanders will eventually become the starting QB. He likely would be wherever he would have landed but how Cleveland sheds these extraneous QB’s will be interesting to see. Several will be trade elements but good freaking luck to that front office.

Maybe he is just an excellent college qb whose game does not translate to NFL? From all the technical podcasts and articles I consume (ones that actually breakdown tape), Shadeur held on to the ball a long, and wasn’t asked to make every throw.

The interesting thing that many of these analysts were pointing out was just how good Travis Hunter was as a receiver and the fact teams should be playing him primarily on offense and not defense which was the thought before the season.

I don’t think Sanders should have slipped as far as he did. Third round seemed about right as the draft was unfolding. I was scratching my head when Gabriel was drafted over him, but I like the Browns took a flyer on Shadeur a few rounds later.

I guess this is now the draft thread lol. Chase Lundt is now top 10 available on Kipers list.

It sounds more and more like he kind of made his own bed.

I'll be the first to tell you that I hate the dog-and-pony show of a combine. Is he fast enough? Does he jump high enough? How many pounds did he bench press? I don't know, man... but the dude seems to play football pretty well.

However, that is the way that you get an evaluation from 32 billion-dollar franchises in order to get paid millions of dollars as a player. If you do your very best to avoid evaluation and only talk to teams you like... well, then you don't get picked in the first 3 rounds because they don't want to put their billion dollar franchise in your hands...

I'm pretty sure that the teams care more about the medicals and interviews at the combine. The drills are for the people.

... and it sounds like he skipped those too...

Everything surrounding Shedeur Sanders is weird. He was the only player I really heard about before the draft, some people can't stand him, the guys on ESPN want to marry him, and there's this which is just cruel...

Nah. Check this clip out of him getting in the face of a ball boy. He deserved to be knocked down a peg.
