You know we have Solo Ball and Alex Karaban and Silas Demary, Jr. and Taris Reed and Danny Hurley and Jaylin Stewart and Eric Reibe and Furph(!!) and Jayden Ross and Malachi Smith and Jonathan, right? We can't have nice things. 😏
I am not certain what that timeline was but if it was 5 weeks it was wrong as it clearly took much longer to heal. If it is worse than a high ankle sprain that would start to put a lot of different could be’s on the table.Wasn't the original timeline 4 weeks for McNeeley's high ankle sprain last season? 6 weeks original prognosis sounds worse than a high ankle sprain. And FWIW McNeeley took over 5 weeks to get back into game action.
And we got Mojo. Don't forget, we got Mojo. You know we have Solo Ball and Alex Karaban and Silas Demary, Jr. and Taris Reed and Danny Hurley and Jaylin Stewart and Eric Reibe and Furph(!!) and Jayden Ross and Malachi Smith and Jonathan, right?
Yep.Stewart, Ross and Malachi get ready
Article is all over the place though. Goes from saying “out nearly two months” to “source says he’s a quick healer - less than 6 weeks”
Fact check: True. There are just some injuries that you can’t rush back from.
Think he’s in the same place he was post commitment but before he torched that international tourney and people were losing their minds about finding him minutes - he’s last guy off bench and hopefully gets a little run here and there so he can be a meaningful piece long termSo what's the deal with Furphy?
Like the very last guy off the bench? I agree he probably won't get much run this season but he's definitely not one of the last guys off the bench of the 15 scholarship players.Think he’s in the same place he was post commitment but before he torched that international tourney and people were losing their minds about finding him minutes - he’s last guy off bench and hopefully gets a little run here and there so he can be a meaningful piece long term
Does make you wonder.Devastating blow to the Offense. Not liking the injury trend on this team.
He can play, but the adjustment to speed of UConn/high major D1 is a lot. Consider him a luxury at the moment. He's one of the better 10th/11th (well 9th/10th for the moment) dudes in the country. So what's the deal with Furphy?
WHAT!?!? Appreciate your response, I do, but WTF, "One of the best 10th or 11th dudes in the country. Trinity or Wesylan probably have a couple of dudes who could perform at that level. A look back at some of the write ups on Furphy during spring and summer told us different. In fact, take those same articles and it sounded like they were describing Mullins: same size, same shot, same skill set. So is he just a body for practice? He can play, but the adjustment to speed of UConn/high major D1 is a lot. Consider him a luxury at the moment. He's one of the better 10th/11th (well 9th/10th for the moment) dudes in the country.
He is goodSo what's the deal with Furphy?
Then he should give UConn a reasonable facsimile of Mullins. He is good
Liam’s injury happened at start of January. This one is in October. There is a lot more time to heal before March. This year’s team is in a much better spot to weather the storm as well. I worry more about Reed’s injury than this one.1. Can’t help but feel like this is Liam all over again. Brutal injury for a freshman as it puts him way behind the curve.
2. Calling for Ross to start over Stewart is insanity. Stewart is inconsistent but has shown real flashes and had actual contributions in meaningful games. Ross has not. I know Ross fans love long discourses on how he’s secretly Gary Payton on D etc but it’s a no-brainer Stewart should start now and needs to step up
Which could also end up being 6 gamesOne of the reasons that Liam wasn't great in the NCAAs is that he lost a lot of developmental time due to injury. Freshman like Mullins need to play to get get better.
Castle missed 6 games. Mullins is looking at five weeks.
