Izzo is a great coach. After yesterday, he's 6-2 in regional finals. Thats a pretty serious record that can't be discounted by one bad game.
Ollie is undefeated in the NCAA's... And undefeated against Izzo.
Hopefully there is more history with them yet to come, but not a bad start for Ollie.

We are the luckiest team in the history of college basketball.

This year we got the MOST OVER-Rated 2 seed. Sure they won the Big East and KenPom had them ranked 5th and they beat media darling KU, but they were so overrated. Then we beat Iowa State without their best player!!!! No not the First team all american. Not the B12 POY one. Not the guy that went off for 30 one. Their other best player. And then we dodged the 1 seed again. Whew. Thank god we got everyone including Obama's national champion in the elite 8. And man we were lucky that they just didn't have it and we were in MSG.

How else could a "1 man team" do all this damage.

If we had beaten such powerhouses like Albany, Pitt, Dayton and UCLA then people might respect us more.

MSU had played bad because Uconn had something to do with that. People in the media are just mad because we beat their national title team, didn't every ESPN expert pick MSU to win it all. People underestimated Uconn's toughness, like Coach KO said were tough too, and we were tougher then MSU.

I heard an interview where Izzo said that we (Mich St) didn't play well, but he said it was because of them (UConn). I sounded to me like he was giving the Huskies credit for making the Spartans look bad.

He didn't say that completely what he said was he didn't want to take away from the great job UConn did and how well they played.

Honestly Tom we sucked shooting the ball but we beat the hell out of your guys on defense…..they were tired and frustrated and that's where the game was won!

But they were tired at least according to Katz. Virginia wore them out, and then they had to play an early game. We need to credit Virginia for wearing them out.

Mein Gott, twenty something old athletes, can't recover in a day after playing an hour of basketball? Do these guys listen to themselves? Hope these guys are planning on playing in the NBA, they play longer games and more often.

Payback for 2009. We were good enough to win it all that year.
not without Jerome Dyson, who had a broken leg. Dyson didn't even play. Don't tell me about your sore wrist. At least Applet (or whatever his name is) played. With Dyson, we go all the way.

Niels missed 5-6 wide open threes yes, but let's not pretend they didn't play good defense. Their defense forced us into a lot of late, contested shots.

Niels makes his usual shots and we win by double digits, but both teams played great defense which is why both shot so poorly.

Actually we made the contested threes and missed the wide open ones

17-49 from the field and 5-22 from three. Convince yourself whatever you want. They played very good defense.

Well said Mau. If Niels hit his usual 50%, we'd be looking at a double-digit UConn win.

No. If Niels hits his 3s, we're looking at the officials calling a lot of ticky-tack fouls on UConn to keep the game close, and foul trouble for Nolan and Brimah.

Could we relate this to George Mason beating the 06 team? We had the talent then to win it all (many picked us to) and we failed to produce.
Only if you didn't watch both games.

No one will deny they were pretty good on defense but you can't deny Giffey had all the time in the world on 4 of the 5 - I mean ALL the time like never before! I doubt that was the plan so as good a defense as they played those were 4 brain farts for sure and they got real lucky

He usually makes those wide open 3's but turns into an average or below average shooter with even a little pressure. Giffey gave us a great game on D and has turned into a very good rebounder against stronger opponents.

Because stats indicate how contested the shots were....

Watch the game; you clearly missed the live show. At least 4/5 of Niels's threes were wide open.

What is it exactly you guys are reading, because it isn't my posts.
