Most physical UConn player ever

Barbara Turner.
Size for size, pound for pound, none tougher mentally or physically. A t about 5 ft 10 (if that) she took on Duke's Bales at 6 ft 3 or so and out weighing BT Express by 50 pounds --Barbara scored on her early and often--if she wasn't dehydrated with leg pains she would have won that game. I will never ever forget her last UConn Game--amazzing. Thanks Coco.
I'd add Shea, Bam Bam

This won't be a popular post, but Dolson was both very physical and a tad, um, well, let's say she got away with whatever she could. I remember being at a USF game in Florida. Dolson and a USF player were pretty much alone at one end of the court, with all refs focused on the action at the other end. A quick turnover to us and Dolson immediately flattens the USF player, pretty much right in front of me. She had an easy lay-up.

I should add she was my wife's favorite player and UConn gave her a shirt signed by Dolson at that same game, because of her condition.

whos Bam Bam
This makes me sad. I'm not trying to be snide, or "that old guy", but, not knowing Bam-Bam means that you've missed some of the richness of UConn basketball. Here's a taste..

fierce, funny, and beloved by her teammates. And, she'd set a pick that'd send your dentist a-shakin' his head, after checking the x-rays. Got away from Sherri at Oklahoma, and came all the way to Storrs...

JJ, Shea, Bam Bam

2004 NCAA Bridgeport - Most Overt Physical Play - Ashley Valley - Fouled Auburn Guard Going For A Steal Knocked Her Thru Her Own Bench.

Gene subbed her in the 2nd half when he had enough of Auburn’s Dirty Play they were openly punching all our players in the 1st half...

Who’s JJ?
Oh, Lordy...merely the toughest, pound for pound, inch for inch, woman perhaps to ever play for the Huskies. Recruited by Geno, outta the tough parts of DC, back when UConn was barely expanding beyond New England. Remember, Lobo was MA, Wolters was pretty local, as was Sales..did all the dirty work for the first championship team in '95, then became assistant coach for many years. Two stories come to mind. First, when Geno lost his mind over officiating in some game, and was gonna go after the ref - he said, afterwards "I knew I could get past Chris, she's skinny. I knew I could get past Tonya (Cardoza, now coach at Temple), she's small. I knew I wasn't gonna get past Jamelle." And, second story, I believe from John Walter's "The Same River Twice". Carla Berube (now, legendary coach at Tufts) was screwing up a practice, when a pup. Geno kicked her off the court. Carla says, seriously upset as she leaves "Tell Jamelle I'm sorry". She wasn't worrying about upsetting Geno as much as she was worrying about upsetting Jamelle.

Caroline Doty had a certain way about moving the corner of her arms (Otherwise known as her elbow to chin trick!)

I like the PFs and Centers, but there is something to be said for the under 6' brigade enforce Uconn's will. Pound for pound, I think Shea was probably the toughest meanest player at Uconn, but there have been so many - and sweet little 'butter in her mouth' Sue Bird wasn't actually an angel between the lines either.

Comment: I think some folks may be conflating competitive/intense with physical.

And I would say it's hard to classify most guards as truly physical because they spend so much of the game at arms length of their man. Even if they are physical in the body-to-body moments, they are still just 'physical for a guard.' In contrast to front-line players, esp posts, who spend much of the game bodying-up their man.
