I went with Allie, but could have said KK just as easily this early. KK has a confidence and command she hasn't shown before, Allie is playing like we thought she would as a freshman, but never really showed.

Early days and Jana is also showing significant improvement too

Allie is the right answer with Jana 2nd. Jana looks much more comfortable around the basket and Allie is driving and shooting with confidence. KK has stepped up her game, but in terms of improvement over last year, it's not close to the other 2. KK was already really good.

Ziebell looks a lot more than just a spot up shooter and someone not trying to make a mistake on defense. She looks comfortable. She looks like she could turn into an offensive weapon and I like her activity on defense and on the boards.

I was also impress with Jana last night. I thought Serah got pushed around or shied away from contact too often. She missed a bunch of close range shots, but Jana looked good on the boards and ripped down a few tough rebounds. If she learns to finish better, she will be a big positive.

I love Caroline as well, but even when she took the inadvertent shot to the jaw, I hold my breath. I also loved that when Haeckel took a shot to the face, Ducharme was the first there to check on her like "Yah, I've been there."

Jana needs to finish with the left hand. She left 4-6 points on the floor, otherwise she was 100% solid.

I would say 1) Allie- only because the baseline was lower 2) Kayleigh- I watched film of her last year and saw her in USC games and then in the U19 tourney. She has become a defensive terror with a solid offensive game. 3) Caroline- So happy for her. 4) Jana- Much more aggressive and has a left hand now. She is going to be a lot better than anyone thinks 5) Azzi- This may be a lot higher in the list but we ain't seen nothing yet, trust me. 6) Sarah- It is subtle but she is much improved in both body and mind. 7) KK- So much in control now.

I will stop there. They worked really really hard and it shows.

Interesting that no one has mentioned Strong. I think I could make a case for her as #2.

Her ability to lead the break and then score or pass. I don’t recall seeing that before. She also seems a bit more confident and assertive.

I think Sarah isn't mention because with the others, they were big question marks coming in.
Many 'experts' picked Strong before the season started to by the NPOY. She is so young and can absolutely improve, but she is also already so good that any improvement is like an extra shot of whip cream on the great hot fudge sundae.

I want to attribute that change in the game to Magic Johnson. Outlet pass not needed and your best open-court performer already has the ball and generally their defender is already chasing them.

Will UConn fans give her a break if she doesn’t score 20 every game now that Geno is trying to get her to integrate new skills?
