More trouble in ACC paradise?

Given that Florida State is basically complete ass in football and basketball, they won’t be getting the prime television spots that are enabling those numbers. And they will go down.

There’s no well of interest in America for Florida State.

No one is getting thrown out of a conference.

That is a favorite form of wishcasting here. Since we’re not moving up, we’re hoping other schools get cast down. Any port in a storm.

Question.

Would it be financially more advantageous if BC hoop just stopped selling tickets? Disable the whole system, lay off the ticket sales staff and the people at the door. Just leave the doors open before games. You won’t make any money, but perhaps losing less is the way to go.

At some point, you’re not even making back the cost of the ticket.

I wonder if they could even get high school kids to show up if they gave out freebies. Dead weight program.

It is actually amazing if you look at where UConn has went compared to the other schools in the ACC since the original Big East breakup. I want to be in a P4 very very very badly, but wouldnt trade the success/championships for being those schools (pitt, Cuse, BC, WVU, etc.)
 
It will never happen. We know this. But those 4 former Big East programs (cuse, pitt, bcu, nd) could maybe save themselves by joining the new Big East. The football independents could form some type of conference if the NCAA let them but again, never happen. From a bcu board and some stats are outdated already, but a complete bust

Their issues are just mismanagement.

I don’t think cutting their rights revenue by 80% is going to make them smarter.

I have to believe moving to a southern conference has at least something to do with their failures. at least recruiting wise. If it was strictly mismanagement, it would be a coincidence that all four programs went south, so to speak, at the same time

It really is mismanagement. Think about this. DeFilippo fired/pushed out 4 relatively successful coaches, 2 in football (O'Brien and Jagodzinski), and 1 in men's (Skinner) and 1 in women's basketball (Iglese), and BC has never recovered. Add in a President who really doesn't care about athletics (but is leaving soon), and you have the recipe for BC's athletic collapse.

BC has dug themselves a deep hole, but with the right administration (the new President?) and some good head coaching hires, BC has a chance to turn it around and become respectable in athletics.

And, they need to re-energize their fan base with a geographic rival just 80 miles down the road.
