Congratulations to #UConn Women's Cross Country for our first ever top 25 national ranking!

i got this from the UCONNHuskies twitter feed.

Don't forget the UConn men's soccer team is #1 in the country!

Field hockey is #4 nationally. UConn field hockey is as much a powerhouse in its sport as UConn women's basketball is in wcbb.

I recently started working on a comparison of team sports at various universities - meaning sports that have clear won / loss records.

If we want to consider 66% winning percentage (i.e. 2 wins for each loss) as being notably successful, for the last 5 seasons UConn has had success with WBB (96%), Field Hockey (83%), Men's Soccer and Men's Basketball (70%), and women's soccer (66%). For the prior 5 years, only 2 sports, Women's Lacrosse and Softball, have not had a .500 record. This of 11 total sports.

For comparison, in the same period at Rutgers, only Women's Basketball has won 66% of games. 6 of 12 sports have less than a .500 record, yuck.

At my new local school, Arizona, only softball has been that successful in the last 5 years, although historically, over 16 years, Men's basketball has won 72%, but only 63% in the last 5 years. Two of 7 sport under .500, including unfortunately, WBB, although they also are over .500 for the longer term.
