I would think it depends on Sammis and the motivation of the player. If they have the equivalent of a memo of understanding with another school already, I would think they would be motivated not to. If not, then I think the opposite would be true. Who knows what Samis' position would be.

Things have always been a bit different (less polite) in football recruiting than basketball recruiting, the (recent) dual signing periods and portal have only made things worse for football.

Im the past, due mostly to the late (more than a month after the season ended) signing period and (I'm guessing) overall number of recruits, in football it was standard for schools to continue recruiting kids who verbally committed to another school (this was always viewed as underhanded in basketball).

I hope that DB (the only one who makes sense) has been contacting our verbal commits (at least those high on our list) to let them know it may be in their best interests to wait until we hire Mora's replacement. We can't have an assistant do this as there is no guarantee that he'll be with the program once all is said and done and the recruits will know this and view it as an insincere move on our part.

I've said elsewhere. Just wait til Sunday or Monday to announce. Say you are considering if a report comes out. Make your new school wait, if you are so important to them. They didnt get a special lean in on recruiting or the portal doing it before thxgiving, heck they had another game to play.
Today, we have seen a number of coaches announce changes (lane kiffen is not the icon here), where they met the team and staff first, issued a statement to their school and fans, then engaged w the new school media and fans. He didnt handle it well. It is ok to admit you did it wrong. It is disappointing he can't see or admit that. But oh well. He is gone.
