Mora Speaks to Courant

I hope that DB (the only one who makes sense) has been contacting our verbal commits (at least those high on our list) to let them know it may be in their best interests to wait until we hire Mora's replacement. We can't have an assistant do this as there is no guarantee that he'll be with the program once all is said and done and the recruits will know this and view it as an insincere move on our part.
I believe non-coaches (including staff who are in roles like 'analyst' are not permitted to contact recruits in this manner... which would include the AD. Frankly, I'd assume that he doesn't necessarily know who/whom the "top" recruits are.

I've said elsewhere. Just wait til Sunday or Monday to announce. Say you are considering if a report comes out. Make your new school wait, if you are so important to them. They didnt get a special lean in on recruiting or the portal doing it before thxgiving, heck they had another game to play.
I don't think it was Mora that announced, it was almost certainly a leak (planned or otherwise) from Colorado State (who would have the motivation to leak to prevent any potential (no matter how unlikely) change of hear over the long weekend.

It was Mora…

Mora is making offers to our players. For that reason, I would not grant him his closure or as Zoo says- he gets a 5 min zoom that is monitored. The rash of offers is not cool.

Mora wanted a new job. He was in such a hurry he skeedaddled without saying a goodbye. The timing is awkward. Well tough. The window is closed, he started offering our guys and now it's.

Go enjoy Fort Fun Jim. It's too late. They'll live without your heartfelt goodbye that should have already been done.

I'd also put a poster of Saban's comments up... right behind him.... for the players to read, when he speaks...😉

I tried to find an article or video or anything backing up that Saban actually said Mora would lose trust in East Coast recruits and Mora's departure embarrassing to the profession that will damage his reputation. Is that screen shot fully accurate or does it have false info in it?
It also incorrectly states our record as 8-4 .. is this some sort of AI garbage?

Dave’s trying to be the good guy and I bet it once again will bite us in the ass.
How? You don’t think Mora knows how to reach out to any player he wants to? You think someone from the AD’s office isn’t going to be in the room making sure he doesn’t cross the line?

The only question should be whether it’s better for the players to have a chance to say goodbye. I don’t have an opinion one way or the other, but that would be how I make my determination if I were AD David Benedict.

Can someone explain why Lane Kiffin is a villain and Jim Mora a hero according to CFB media? They did the same thing.

Maybe he asked the captains for input?

The optics of the whole thing are bad.

But it would be worse if we blocked it, Mora should do the right thing and cancel.

If he wants to say goodbye then as you say, he knows how to reach them.

Didn’t he claim he let the players know via group chats that he was leaving?

That notification should’ve been in person to begin with. He’s already missed his chance at that.

He’s actively poaching players as we speak. But that’s the cfb landscape we’re in right now.

Fine, you did your duty, sure, whatever.

Thank you, next.
And every Boneyarder talking about the next coach keeps bringing up "bringing players with him" ad nauseum. (His kid's a great quarterback who would travel with him...blah blah blah.) What makes that coach any better or worse than Mora? Hate the portal, hate coaches leaving, hate conference realignment...it's where college football is.
I was pissed Mora left, sure. But it is what it is. He could have given us goodbye kisses and tweeted some perfumey smoke up our butts, but he didn't. He wants to say goodbye to the guys...will he offer some a spot at CSU? Probably, but we will want our new coach to do the same.
In the end, the guy did a better job here than I expected, especially in a pretty short time frame. A couple years of going to the Rent expecting NOT to lose? Who would have thought.
I'm not sending him a Christmas card, but I'm not hurling EffYou's at the guy, either. He did his job.
NEXT!!!

Some interesting quotes...

“I am flying back across the country (Monday) to look these men in the eye and say thanks for the work they did and the things we accomplished together.”

“I sent a group message (to players) via ‘teamworks,’ the only way to communicate with them all when scattered across country, the moment the deal was done,” Mora said. “The AD at UConn was kept in the loop the entire time. … Frankly, I did it exactly the right way, all above board, with honesty and integrity and all with the interest of the UConn players in mind.”

“I left UConn better than I found it,” Mora said, “and I handled my departure the way a man with integrity does so. … I loved my time here, we embraced it.”

I'm a man and I have the most integrity. Let me tell you all about it before I come back to UConn this week to take all the players I want back to Colorado State with me.

Listen if he comes out and says "I took this job because I want to be closer to family and be closer to home" then fine I'll root for you. I understand it's a business and he doesn't have to fly back and speak to the team and press, but he's doing it. PR stunt or not, Ill give him credit for doing it at all.

This is a fake quote btw
I don't even think it matters anymore. We've learned that everything head football coaches say is a lie, mora's thank you is AI, his commitment to the current players was false. no one knows what is real or fake anymore

Hopefully our current players and recruits feel
1. I question his loyalty and
2. I don't want to go play for the worst team in a G6 conference which is isolated from every other conference member and end up going all "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" in the middle of winter

btw - I just checked and the low is 14 degrees tonight in Fort Collins. on November 30. No thanks.

If they want to go, let them. The next coach will have their own recruits. It appeared to me that very few first year HS recruits were playing.
