Mora on Rosa “Well he’s our third string right now”

I agree with this entirely, but, Jim Mora is incredibly tight in his messaging. It surprised me to see what, arguably, is an unforced error on his part. But, 100% agree that speculation is pointless, and potentially damaging.
what's the error, exactly?

Publicly saying the guy who who had 11 touchdowns last year and often single-handedly carried the offense, shouldn't be on any nationwide watchlists?

Those are pretty stinging words about a player (Rosa) from a coach. He said he didn’t even think he should be on the watch list since he has 2 other guys ahead of him on the depth chart. My guess is that there is a clash there. Rosa is a big ego guy so likely it’s got something to do with that.
Oh yeah Rosa is a huge ego guy lol

I repeat...

I have no idea what goes on in the locker room. But in saying that I have meet Victor Rosa three times on different occasions. Once with Clingen. Confident YES, Humble YES, Ego NO FREAKING WAY
It was sarcasm. Victor the times I have met him was humble as well.

Correct but he had more carries and also has 8 more tds than the next guy which was Houston and he was a freshman. We are blessed to have this much depth in our backfield it's a great problem to have but Vic is the only one imo that is a true every down back.

This has likely been said multiple times in this thread but there is only one reason in my mind Mora would make this comment - and one alone.

If NC State is practicing on how to stop the run game, they are now have to prepare for 3+ potential styles of running. Announcing who will get the handoffs early only helps the other team in preparations - Mora knows what he’s doing, he’s been at this for awhile.

Some of y’all are unbelievable. This isn’t baseless speculation, it’s quotes from the literal head coach of the team. It was clearly worth discussing considering the expectations everyone placed on Rosa heading into the off season. Why does this board even exist if we can’t talk about unexpected developments during the off season? If you’re too soft to handle the conversation, see yourself out.

Not defending anyone making up stuff about egos or anything unverifiable, but that wasn’t in the original post.

Also just to defend the thread’s existence. It’s the second most posted in thread at the top of the board with 19 days left to game 1. So clearly it’s a topic people are interested in. We all thought Rosa was RB1.

I agree with this. Maybe the kid from Louisville also.

Rosa has a nose for the end zone and that is a skill which plays itself out during the season.

Carries and rotation will solve itself once there is game film. It always does.

To my ear, Mora’s comment had the familiar sound of a Parcells/Belichick zinger. Like them, Mora knows who can take a comment as motivation rather than criticism. Far from trying to deflate Victors ego, I saw Mora’s comment as trying to support the “egos“ of Houston and Brewton. Mora knows that Victor has an excellent social media platform and is making a name for himself—not just being on watch lists—but in the eyes of the local media who are gravitating to his “celebrity”. It was his way of saying to the horde, don’t forget Houston and Brewton. They could use some media love and attention too.

NC State confused too.,.. Point Mora.

I was at the Syracuse game when Houston ran for a touchdown…i have never seen anyone run so fast…he was in the end zone before the Syracuse players could even react..

Who was also plagued by injuries….

One could argue it may have worked... there were multiple articles/social media posts across the spectrum on Houston, Brewton, Rosa, Mitchell, Edwards and the RB Room depth this week.

That was amazing.

One thing Mora needs to do this year is keep these dudes off the kickoff return team.

We don’t need any more unnecessary injuries.

Brewton is one of the best kick returners in the country. I suspect he sees the field on KOs.
I know he’s that’ good but dang…. .If I see him go off the field limping again, going to cause me to have a coronary.

I just want to see Houston, Brewton on the field for most of the season and see what we can do!

Rosa will play and play well I’m not woo
Excited Ric Flair GIF

Houston with the speed
Brewton also with the speed
Rosa with the shifts
Mitchell with the power

No matter what the order is according to coach, i love this lineup
