Those are pretty stinging words about a player (Rosa) from a coach. He said he didn’t even think he should be on the watch list since he has 2 other guys ahead of him on the depth chart. My guess is that there is a clash there. Rosa is a big ego guy so likely it’s got something to do with that.

You don't know anything about what goes on in the locker room. Don't call anyone "big ego" or none of that especially about a 19 year old. He's still getting plenty of snaps with this offense.

This is a tough one. Burns was a huge part of the puzzle last year and Rosa benefited from that. The guy was a monster fullback (and NFL material). We don’t have that this year, so perhaps Mora wants more classic tailbacks that can find their way on their own. That said, Rosa had some incredible plays and has great big playmaking capability and did a ton for that team and obviously can be a feature back. It’s a head scratcher. Maybe he is used more as a slot guy this year. WTFK.

I don't think that take is correct. Mora has said that the UConn RB position is RB by committee. He has also said that Brewton and Houston are smaller guys who need a lighter load. Mora has his fast little guys in Brew and Hou, and his bigger, grind down the opponent backs MItchell and Rosa. He is also experiementing with Lou Hansen 6-3, 238, as the short yardage specialist

I do not believe that Rosa's ego enters into the equation.

If anyone has any information about doghouses or disharmony, either share it or don't bring it up. But needing a reason for a TB who performed well but only moved up the depth chart because of injuries to others who are now healthy is silly. Devontae Houston averaged SEVEN yards a carry last year playing through injuries. And Brewton was ahead of both him and Rosa to start the season before he got hurt. There is zero reason for people to be speculating about trouble brewing under the surface.

As I said, if the OP actually knows something and feels like sharing it, feel free to do so. But neither speculation on this, or just stating a fact if one is known without giving the board any reason to accept that you know something, is incredibly unhelpful.

I agree with this entirely, but, Jim Mora is incredibly tight in his messaging. It surprised me to see what, arguably, is an unforced error on his part. But, 100% agree that speculation is pointless, and potentially damaging.

I don’t understand what is so puzzling about this. Rosa was down the depth chart last year and emerged when other guys were injured. Now, said guys are healthy and they are again ahead of Rosa. Rosa is good and will get better but what do you think the other guys have been doing? Sitting around watching Rosa get better?

Publicly saying the guy who who had 11 touchdowns last year and often single-handedly carried the offense, shouldn't be on any nationwide watchlists?

I have no idea what goes on in the locker room. But in saying that I have meet Victor Rosa three times on different occasions. Once with Clingen. Confident YES, Humble YES, Ego NO FREAKING WAY
It was sarcasm. Victor the times I have met him was humble as well.

Correct but he had more carries and also has 8 more tds than the next guy which was Houston and he was a freshman. We are blessed to have this much depth in our backfield it's a great problem to have but Vic is the only one imo that is a true every down back.

This has likely been said multiple times in this thread but there is only one reason in my mind Mora would make this comment - and one alone.

If NC State is practicing on how to stop the run game, they are now have to prepare for 3+ potential styles of running. Announcing who will get the handoffs early only helps the other team in preparations - Mora knows what he’s doing, he’s been at this for awhile.

Some of y’all are unbelievable. This isn’t baseless speculation, it’s quotes from the literal head coach of the team. It was clearly worth discussing considering the expectations everyone placed on Rosa heading into the off season. Why does this board even exist if we can’t talk about unexpected developments during the off season? If you’re too soft to handle the conversation, see yourself out.

Not defending anyone making up stuff about egos or anything unverifiable, but that wasn’t in the original post.

Also just to defend the thread’s existence. It’s the second most posted in thread at the top of the board with 19 days left to game 1. So clearly it’s a topic people are interested in. We all thought Rosa was RB1.

I agree with this. Maybe the kid from Louisville also.
