This isn't about the players not wanting a spring game. This is about coaches hiding the abilities of their players so they don't lose them so easily to the portal. It's all about the portal.Guys do not want to participate in bowl games. Younger players do not want spring games. Maybe they just want more NIL $ for their effort ? More pay or no game. Wait until they unionize.

I agree. Fun time out for fans in the middle of April is a silly proposition.Spring games are dumb. Not much of a loss.

I know you are being facetious, but I really do miss the spring games when the weather was good. Having to break out the 100 SPF sunscreen. drink some obligatory beers, down some stadium eats, I never understood why it never drew that well. But if the weather was good in April, spring was breaking out all over and the possibilities outdoors were endless I guess.I agree. Fun time out for fans in the middle of April is a silly proposition.
Not quite. The next level is scheduling tackling dummies and running cones for a season to get bigger and better.UConn was ahead of the curve all along! /s
I liked going during the RE1.0 time. Live scrimmage and you would get to see some redshirt freshmen that showed potential as playmakers. A Lutrus comes to mind. Diaco brought in a transfer tight end from somewhere from the mid-west that looked great at catching the ball but never made it to the fall for some reason. It was also an opportunity to sell some season tickets. IIRC RE had one at Memorial one year? Also liked attending the open practice at Storrs under PP. Got a very up-close look at the players and was able to listen as they were coached up at the various position groups. We walked over to the sleds and talked with Don Brown for a while, He was very accommodating and generous.I used the Blue White Spring game to get the grill out and tailgate and then try and glean information about new players. At one time, our attendance wasn't bad, and the game was televised. Now, college football is so upside down that teams don't want other teams to see their players and recruit them away in the portal. Something has to be done to put some parameters around the portal.
Just wait until other teams start canceling seasons to get faster and stronger.UConn was ahead of the curve all along! /s

It's like giving the entire team a redshirt year.I have it on good authority that this doesn’t work.

It was a good time. Helped us assess our future tailgate needs in advance. Never understood why HCRE always insisted on having it on the 1st day of fishing season. Killed any chance of any participation from Vernon residents.I used the Blue White Spring game to get the grill out and tailgate and then try and glean information about new players.
Yes the few thousand or so who go will beDozens will be disappointed
"Cole Welliver has given the defensive line a case of monster, can they tell the difference"The third string player's wet dream. #2 on depth chart transfer just before spring game and #1 gets injured. Boom, 3rd to 1st just like that.

Sounds familiar…
-> Big Ten Staffer 1: We beat a team two years ago in our stadium, and three days later, two recruiting staff members from that team were direct messaging one of our top players who, he’s such a nice kid, he came in and asked, ‘Hey, do you want me to take this to compliance, or you guys want to handle it at this point?’ So I just called up that recruiting guy and say, ‘What are you doing, dude?’ To which he quickly says, ‘Well, hey, that wasn’t me.’ I was like, ‘I have the screenshot if you’d like me to share them with you.’ <-
As of 4:12 PM Eastern, it's the lead story under "Top Headlines" but not shown with a lead-in large graphic on the NCAAF page...makes sense, as why would the total sports network want to draw negative attention to their cough, hack, wheeze darling #2 conference. I love watching this bonfire.Sounds like this should be a bigger story in general or at least plastered on ESPN's NCAAF page with a "Breaking News" banner.
