Mora’s tweet on tampering happening right now

That has been answered on Storrs Central. Best $10 a month I have spent on UConn in a long time.
I am member of Storrs Central. Where do you find this information? I didn't see any articles under the Football section with Pryce Yates' name in the headlines. Is it in the Transfer Portal thread that is at 45 pages?

It's in their forums section. PORTAL thread

yes, I finally figured that out about one week ago myself. Btw it’s now 46 pages.

That really rubs me the wrong way. Something just doesn't sit right with Yates being defensive MVP and immediately announcing he's back in the portal to just committ to the team he dominated? I'm trying not to be tinfoil hat here, but the math isn't mathing if it's not tampering.
There’s no math. It sucks. He’s getting more NIL $, playing for an NFL hall of fame coach in a P4 conference. He probably believes it will be better for his NFL aspirations. Not that complicated.

Yates to UNC seems to have gotten a lot of media attention, scrolling on the various sport network bottomlines, espn.com etc.

The coverage is a good thing for UConn, sends a sign to P4 guys transferring for playing time, if you succeed, you can get you back to the P4, if you don't stick around or go straight to the league.

Immediate goal is to become the top G5 school AND jump low level P4 schools. I believe we are on our way.

First classless move by Yates.
Second, going to the program that just got its butt whipped makes you wonder

Bill Belichick Lands Impact Transfer Who Crushed North Carolina in Fenway Bowl

The Tar Heels coach apparently liked what he saw at Fenway Park on Dec. 28.

Tom Dierberger • Jan 09, 2025

The 2024 Fenway Bowl was one to forget for the North Carolina Tar Heels, but new head coach Bill Belichick liked what he saw in at least one aspect of the game.

UConn defensive lineman Pryce Yates, who hit the transfer portal after the Huskies' 27–14 win, signed with the Tar Heels earlier this week to join Belichick's first roster in Chapel Hill.

The Tom Dierberger?

The NY Post said "Bill Belichick secures major North Carolina transfer win"

Maybe the guys left Rhule last year because they saw how far down the depth chart they were. The article wasn't clear about the quality of the players... or my reading comprehension stinks.

It’s probably a mix. I don’t think he would be this forthright about the issue if he didn’t lose good players.

We’re in good shape here, the hell with Yates.
Accepting the new realities and having a plan for dealing with them will determine who is successful and who gets fired. Used to be the AD had arolodex of up and coming coaches to replace his franchise HC. Now the Recruiting Coordinator(GM), has to have a list of athletes at other schools who are contactable about transferring. Loss of Yates was followed by some nice grabs on the DL in the portal. Don't think we started from scratch when Yates finally went.

Not sure how Mr. Personality fairs with college kids that don’t have to put up with authoritarian BS and can hit the portal. Time will tell.
That will be very interesting to watch.

Especially this generation of kids which is more anti-authority and doesn't respond well to criticism.
Gotta assume that his reputation precedes him and the players will be quite coachable for at least a couple of seasons. And his coaching style at this level will probably evolve from his NFL days too.

Yeah I imagine for a few years he’ll pull in some kids. The deadpan “just do your job” approach or your persona non grata doesn’t seem like a winner these days.

Last year UConn wrapping up the spring with an open practice instead of a true spring game. I think the new transfer coaches are part of the reason why… the smartest coaches are already doing it, Nebraska just trying to keep up.
I think spring game stuff has passed its relevancy. To me, it was always about teams trying to prove how crazy their fanbase was, or something weird like that.
